Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has taken a big step forward by naming its 5G service “Q-5G – Quantum 5G”. It launches Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) for businesses in select cities. This move comes as BSNL strengthens its 4G network and prepares for a full 5G rollout. It aims to compete with private telecom giants like Jio and Airtel.
BSNL 5G Service Named Q-5G
BSNL announced the name of its 5G service, Q-5G. The name was chosen after a public campaign where people were invited to suggest names for the service. “You named it. We made it happen! Introducing THE BSNL Q-5G – Quantum 5G,” the post read, thanking users for their participation. The name reflects the speed, power, and future of BSNL’s 5G network.
The company is gearing up to launch the BSNL 5G service once its 4G network is fully stable. The plans to start 5G mobile services in Delhi by September 2025. For now, the focus is on providing high-speed internet to enterprises through Quantum 5G FWA.

Quantum 5G FWA Launched For Businesses
BSNL has introduced Quantum 5G FWA, India’s first SIM-less Fixed Wireless Access service, in select cities like Hyderabad and parts of Uttar Pradesh. This service offers high-speed internet without voice for businesses, starting at Rs 999 per month. A banner on BSNL’s website calls it “the Quantum Leap – blazing fast, secure, reliable, and affordable.”
The BSNL 5G service is currently aimed at enterprises, not regular consumers, and uses BSNL’s existing 4G towers, with around 70,000 of 100,000 towers already active. The company plans to expand this service to cities like Bengaluru, Pune, and Chandigarh by September 2025, offering speeds up to 300Mbps for businesses needing reliable internet for streaming, gaming, or remote work.
