The upcoming Google Pixel 8 series handsets will come with Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 sensor. Along with Staggered HDR (High Dynamic Range) support. It can feature the third-generation Google Tensor SoC. This information was spotted on Google’s budget-friendly Camera Go app, which shares resources with the normal Camera app featured on Pixel phones. Leaker Kuba Wojciechowski decrypted the information.

The leaker spotted the references to “Husky” and “Shiba” devices in the code, which are Pixel 8 series handsets, stating that they support staggered HDR. With improved details, the staggered HDR feature captures multiple frames in short, middle, and long exposures. This suggests that Google will upgrade the primary Camera of the next Pixel series devices.

According to Kuba Wojciechowski, the Google Camera Go app now supports the Staggered HDR feature. This indicates that the Camera will get the upgrade, as mentioned earlier. In this feature, the long and short exposure shots are combined rather than quickly taken one after the other. This would cut the capture time. And additionally, lessen the possibility of ghosting or strobe effects when the algorithm cannot appropriately match longer and shorter exposure photos inside the same image. However, the company hasn’t confirmed or announced any details yet.
