Reliance Jio is working on its Jio Phone 5G phone for quite some time now. The upcoming phone by the telecom giant remains in the rumour mill for months now. However, now, the launch does seem imminent as more leaks pile in. Since its launch of the affordable JioPhone Next in India, the company is continuing to focus on its 5G phone. Especially considering how 5G continues to be in demand for the smartphone market.
Although the brand has not revealed anything huge on the Jio Phone 5G, its’ leaks have hinted at many things. From previous leaks, it is hinted that it will be super aggressively priced and the cheapest 5G smartphone that there is. But now, a recent report hints at its pricing and specifications, let us take a look at it:
Jio Phone 5G Price in India
According to Android Central, the upcoming Jio Phone 5G’s price in India could be somewhere in the range of Rs. 9,000 ($120) to Rs. 12,000 ($160) in the country. It is also possible that it would come in at under Rs. 10,000 ($135), undercutting most of its rivals.
As we know already, Jio Infocomm is reportedly engaging in 5G testing across different locations in the country. So, the Jio Phone 5G could launch sometime in June 2022 during the AGM just like the JioPhone Next launch last year.
JioPhone 5G Specifications (Leaked)
As per the Android Central report, Jio Phone 5G will have a 6.5-inch HD+ display on the upcoming device. In addition, the display will offer a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. In terms of software, the smartphone will be running on a customised version of Android 11 OS, right out of the box.
Just like JioPhone Next, the phone will sport a contemporary design with small top and bottom bezels, a hole-punch cutout, and rounded corners. On the processor front, the upcoming Jio Phone 5G will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC. This octa-core 5G chipset will be coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Further, we will also get a microSD card slot for expansion.
Meanwhile, optics-wise, the upcoming Jio Phone 5G will offer a dual rear camera setup. The setup will include a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. At the front, we will get to see an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, 5G, and dual-SIM card support.
Moreover, from what we have heard, the first 5G smartphone from Jio, might arrive with five 5G bands: N3, N5, N28, N40, and N78.
