Samsung has officially started the One UI 9 stable rollout, bringing Android 17 to its newest foldable smartphones. The company announced the stable version of One UI 9 alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8. While Samsung Galaxy S26 users have already been testing beta builds, they will have to wait a little longer for the stable update.
The latest software focuses heavily on artificial intelligence, privacy, and easier device switching. Samsung has not released a complete changelog yet, but the company has confirmed several major features arriving with One UI 9.
OneUI 9 Stable Rollout Starts With New Foldables

The One UI 9 stable rollout is currently limited to Samsung’s latest foldable lineup. The update is based on Android 17 and introduces new AI tools that give users more control over how AI features work on their devices.
One of the biggest additions is the AI Assistant Activity dashboard. It provides a central place where users can view AI actions and automations running on their phones. Users can review AI activity and directly access settings for better control and transparency.

Samsung has also added enhanced Privacy Alerts, which proactively warn users about possible privacy risks. The feature can notify users about unnecessary background permission requests before they become a bigger issue.
Another major upgrade is the improved Smart Switch experience. Users moving from an iPhone running iOS 26.6 or later can now transfer data wirelessly by scanning a QR code without downloading additional apps.
New Features And Galaxy S26 Release Timeline
Samsung has included several exclusive features for its new foldables, and some of them may remain limited to these devices for some time.
Key One UI 9 features include:
- AI Assistant Activity dashboard
- Enhanced Privacy Alerts
- Updated Smart Switch with QR-based transfers
- Transfer support for passwords and passkeys
- Call history migration
- Accessibility settings transfer
- eSIM data transfer
- Warranty and Care settings hub
- Security and privacy insights through Now Brief
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup also gets My FanCam, which automatically tracks a subject and reframes videos into different aspect ratios. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra adds Cine LUT support for cinematic colour grading directly inside the camera app. On the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Samsung has redesigned the FlexWindow with an AI-focused interface for quicker access to apps and actions.
Samsung has not confirmed the release date for other Galaxy devices yet. Based on previous software rollouts, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to receive the stable One UI 9 update after the new foldables, followed by older flagship models.
