The company has also listed a couple of requirements for the Gen4 M.2 SSD support on the console. For this, players need a sequential read speed of 5,500MB/s or faster. Additionally, players need a capacity of in between 250GB to 4TB. The company also states that using M.2 SSD with your PS5 requires efficient heat dissipation. Now, for this, the PS5 needs a cooling mechanism in the form of a heatsink.

Players can attach a heatsink to their M.2 SSD themselves. Moreover, they can choose to do so in a single-sided or double-sided format. If players do not want to go through this hassle, they can opt for M.2 SSDs that come with in-built heatsinks. However, they may cost significantly more.

Furthermore, the beta software for the PS5 also brings along with it quite a few UX modifications. The 3D audio support for in-built TV speakers have been introduced via this update. Users of the PS5 console can toggle this on from the console’s settings. Additionally, the Control Center interface now allows for more customisation and personalisation options.
