Sony PS5 New Model Features Easier Screw Design, 300gms Lighter Than Original

Sony plans to do away with some weight and design for its Sony PS5. Sony recently brought a new lighter PS5 design in the Australian market in a hush move. This new model has a unique screw grip for the base stand, which no longer requires a screwdriver. The drop in weight was already touted recently with some design changes, but now we have clarity on the new PS5.

Sony PS5 will now weigh 300 gms lighter than the standard original version. However, the regular PS5 disc version, weighing just a few grams shy of 5 kgs, won’t receive the same weight reduction. It’s the second heaviest console Sony has ever made. The original PS3 still retains its crown as the heaviest weighing console with its 5kg heft.

Sony PS5 Specifications

Sony PS5 features 8 x Zen 2 Cores with 3.5 GHz clock speed and a 10.28 TFLOPs GPU. The GPU architecture is a Custom RDNA 2. It comes with 16GB GDDR6 RAM with a 256-bit interface. It also hosts a Custom 825GB SSD. Other features include USB HDD Support and 4K UHD Blu-ray Drive for the standard PS5 version.

Sony PlayStation5 Price, Availability

Sony PS5 was released in the country for the first time since February 2021. The popularity can be seen from the fact that it was sold out within minutes of pre-orders going available at the May 17 replenishment. The PlayStation 5 will be available for pre-order again in India on August 26. While Sony plans to rush the stock for Diwali and the festive season, it might restock a limited quantity.

The Sony PS5 prices around Rs 49,990 for the normal edition, while the digital edition is priced at Rs 39,990. The PS5 Digital Edition is effectively identical to the PS5, with all of the same processing power as the disc-drive-equipped version.
