ZenFone 8, ZenFone 8 Flip May Debut As Asus 8Z, Asus 8Z Flip in India

Asus launched its Zenfome 8 series globally last week. However, there is a delay in its’ Indian launch due to the second wave of coronavirus crisis in India. The phones have now surfaced on the Google Play supported devices list with their alternate names. If we recall, Asus ZenFone 6 launched in India as Asus 6Z. Now, it looks like Asus ZenFone 8 series is also likely to get the same ‘Z’ moniker – Asus 8Z. On the other hand, it is unclear when it will arrive in India.

According to a Google Play supported devices listing, the ZenFone 8 can be spotted with the model number ASUS_I006D. In addition, it mentions the moniker “ZenFone 8/ ASUS 8Z,” suggesting the device may launch as Asus 8Z in some regions including India. Asus India’s Business Head Dinesh Sharma earlier indicated that the phones might launch in the country once the COVID-19 situation improves.

Furthermore, it shows the Asus ZenFone 8 series – ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip with their model numbers and different names. It is suggesting the phone will launch as Asus 8Z in some regions including in India. However, the Flip variant is not listed with an alternate name like the vanilla ZenFone 8. But it is likely to launch with the name Asus 8ZFlip. Its model number is ASUS_I004D. As of now, Asus has not shared any details on an Indian launch for the ZenFone 8 series.

To recall, Asus ZenFone 8 or Asus 8Z comes with a 5.9-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. There is a 4,000mAh battery on the ZenFone 8, along with support for 30W fast charging. The dual camera on the Asus ZenFone 8 comes with a 64-megapixel primary shooter and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera – both using Sony sensors. At the front, there is a 12-megapixel selfie shooter on the Asus ZenFone 8.

On the other hand, Asus ZenFone 8 Flip / Asus 8Z Flip sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It also packs the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. In addition, it comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. There’s a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. Its triple camera setup includes a primary 64-megapixel shooter, a 12-megapixel dual pixel image sensor, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. It also acts as the front camera as well, as it swivels/flips in order to act as a front camera.
