Very recently, the upcoming Nothing smartphone made an appearance on the Indian BIS certification website. This immediately hints that the Nothing Phone 1 launch in India is right around the corner. Going by the BIS listing of the handset, it carries model number A063.

As far as the availability of the handset in India is concerned, we have good news. The upcoming Nothing smartphone will go on sale via Flipkart in the country. This is not based on any Nothing Phone 1 leaks or rumours. The UK-based company officially confirmed this.

Update: The launch date for the Nothing Phone (1) is finally revealed. The phone will launch in India on July 14, 2022. It will first launch in London, the UK on July 12, 2022. This will be followed by the India launch.

Nothing Phone (1) Price In India

The very first product from the brand was a set of TWS earbuds that were backed by Active Noise Cancellation. Currently, they go for USD 99 and Rs. 5,949, respectively. Now, the earbuds offer a very unique transparent design and are stacked with a multitude of different high-end features.

Going by all that the Nothing Phone 1, aka, Phone (1) is said to pack, we may expect it to come somewhere in the range of 500 Euros (approx. Rs. 41,344). If the phone’s manufacturing process is not locally sourced, then the phone’s price could rise significantly due to several factors.

Updates

Update (10 June 2022): Reliable tipster Yogesh Brar on Twitter has stated that the phone has a possibility to be made in India. This should reduce the cost of the phone significantly. Other details such as contract manufacturers or the place of manufacturing haven’t been revealed. You can check out the Tweet below:

Update (15 June 2022): It’s been revealed that the Nothing Phone 1 will be manufactured in India, at Tamil Nadu. The news was announced by Manu Sharma, who is the Vice President and General Manager at Nothing India. You can check out his tweet below:

This news bodes well for Indian customers. Basically, the phone will be manufactured in Tamil Nadu and sold via Flipkart. Moreover, the cost of the phone is bound to decrease drastically, as you no longer have to pay for import and customs duties. While the phone’s price hasn’t been revealed yet, it will be lower than what we expected initially.

Nothing Phone 1 Specifications

Smartphone chipset

Processor

New information on the Nothing Phone (1) has come to light, with some ideas about the specifications. The phone will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor, which will be paired with a suitable Adreno GPU for gaming.

OS and Display

When it comes to software, as mentioned before, there is going to be a unique take on Android 12 OS. This particular software is being called the Nothing OS. In terms of display, the Nothing Phone 1 specs are said to include a 6.43-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display. The phone also comes with a 60-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, which can be adjusted based on whichever task the phone is performing at any given moment.

RAM, Storage, Camera

The Nothing smartphone will most likely come in a single 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant. For photos and videos, we may get to see a triple rear camera setup. This setup will include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor and a third 2-megapixel sensor. At the front, the Nothing Phone 1 specs will reportedly include a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.

Battery and Charging

Moreover, the phone’s certification has revealed that it will ship with a 45W fast charger, which complies with PPS charging standards. This ensures that the USB-C charger will be able to charge your other Android phones or notebooks. The certification shows that the charger comes in three models, C304, C347, and C348. This could be hinting at three different variants for the phone. However, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from the company. The phone will sport a 4500 mAh battery capacity.

Furthermore, the Nothing smartphone teaser tends to feature the phone’s structure with an oval-shaped camera mount that is present on the top left corner. A big component in the phone’s centre looks identical to a wireless charging setup. There is something unknown mounted on the top right corner backside of the phone with diagonal lining.

The 23rd March event also showed the Nothing Phone’s key partners who will power the device. Samsung, Sony and Visionox were stated in the event as the provider of the hardware for this device.

Nothing Phone 1 Design Leaks & Rumours

Phone Design

With the Nothing Phone 1 specs out of the way, let us now take a look at the design. Remember when the Nothing Ear (1) came out? The earbuds literally took the internet by storm because of how out-of-the-box the design was. Of course, there were some who liked it and some who didn’t. Either way, it was something very new in the market.

The Nothing Phone (1) design will be something revolutionary as well, according to leaks and renders. We will get to see the same transparent design theme at the back. Overall, the design will be on the minimalistic side of things. Nothing was created keeping minimalism in mind so, we are definitely looking forward to the Nothing Phone (1) design.

The Nothing Phone (1) is designed by Teenage Engineering, Sweden’s leading electronic designing and manufacturing company. Also, Dyson company’s former Head of Design joined the company a few months ago. So, we can expect the final product to be straightforward and clean looking with a minimalistic and aesthetically appealing setup.

Update:

On June 15, 2022 tipster Mukul Sharma posted a picture of a mobile phone, with a semi-transparent back design. It is expected that the upcoming Nothing Phone 1 will have the same design and will feature Corning Gorilla glass on the rear. In addition, from the images, it is also clear that the mobile phone will come with a dual-camera lens and wireless charging component.

As you can see from the picture, the volume rockers and the power buttons are on opposite sides of the frame. This means that you’ll be able to take screenshots or bootload the device easily. Unsurprisingly, there’s no Alert Slider on the phone. After all, since Carl Pei left OnePlus to start his own smartphone brand, there was little chance of a OnePlus signature to be kept on the Nothing Phone 1. The lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack isn’t surprising either. Since the world is moving to wireless technology, new smartphones are now trying to implement and integrate a better ecosystem with wireless accessories to pair with their primary products.

There will also be a lighting system at the back of the phone. These illuminating elements or lines are present around the camera setup, the top right corner of the phone’s back panel, above the charging port, and around the wireless charging coil. It’s possible that they can be configured for different notifications if your phone is placed face down and not in use. This lighting system is called the Glyph Interface, and the bottom LED bar can also act as a charging progress indicator. Additionally, they can be used as a fill light for close-quarters photography in dark rooms, if you’re into photography. The Glyph Interface will also come with 10 built-in notification sounds which will sync with the LED lights. These can be customised to your liking.
