OnePlus 7 is the much-awaited improvement over the OnePlus 6T. Priced at Rs. 32,999, the phone keeps itself almost top-class but does provide a significant difference in terms of feel and functions. The OnePlus 7 arrives with a brilliant display and speedy performance, pairing it with a redundant design and mediocre camera. It is a mixed bag, but it gets the job done. Plus, it has the OnePlus guarantee making it an excellent model.

OnePlus 7 Price in India

OnePlus 7 was launched in two variants with prompt performance, shining display along with an average camera and outmoded design. OnePlus 7, when launched, was a great buy in the upper mid-range segment starting at a price of Rs.32,999. OnePlus 7 prices in India was reduced to Rs.29,999 for the 6GB+128GB storage variant before it officially ran out of stock. The price of OnePlus 7 8GB+ 256GB option was reduced to Rs.34,999. Now that OnePlus 8, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus Nord have launched, the OnePlus 7 becomes outdated and is mostly not available in stock at most of the places. But the smartphone is out of stock as per the official site and other online stores.

About the Mobile Phone

OnePlus 7 will attract the One Plus 6T crowd with its similarities. It has a few pros and cons:

Pros

  • The phone comes with an AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ display, delivering sharp colours.
  • OnePlus 7 arrives with blazing-fast top-end processing due to the Snapdragon 855 chipset.
  • The phone provides you with a full day’s worth of battery.

Cons

  • The phone has a similar design to OnePlus 6T, which makes it redundant.
  • It does not have the QHD display that most premium phones come with.
  • The OnePlus 7 has problems with focusing, especially when clicking macros or portraits.
  • It does not click stabilised low-light videos.

The OnePlus 7 is an improvement over the OnePlus 6T, but it does not do anything striking. It has made some upgrades, but it looks quite similar and despite being fast, feels the same. It is a recommended phone since it does the job, but with more money, getting the OnePlus 7 Pro will make you feel the difference,

Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro which gets the futuristic pop-up selfie camera, the OnePlus 7 goes for the same model that OnePlus 6T is garbed in. It might seem a bit redundant for people who are already carrying the OnePlus 6T. The phone goes for the same glass sandwich design and has a rounded metal frame, which makes it easy to hold. Like 6T, the alter slider and power button are placed on the right while the volume button is on the left. The buttons have good feedback. The phone does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack like the 6T. The phone is not heavy, and despite being glossy, it does not catch fingerprints easily. On the back, however, the camera module protrudes out a little bit makes the phone rock when placed on a flat surface.

Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro, the screen of OnePlus 7 does not come with curved edges. It is a 6.41 optic AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The colours are quite punchy, and when you come outside, the phone delivers bright colours which are not dimmed down by sunlight. However, it does not have the QHD+ display or the 90Hz refresh rate that OnePlus 7 Pro brings. There is also a waterdrop notch which holds the selfie camera.

OnePlus 7 comes with the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which is an improvement from the 845 held by 6T. It can be of two variants: 6GB or 8GB. It provides snappy performance and multitasking is smooth and fast, especially with the 8GB variant. The in-display fingerprint scanner is snappy and can unlock the phone faster than OnePlus 6T. Plus, high-end games like PUBG can run in high settings without a bit of lag. However, 30-minutes of gameplay can make the phone heat up a little bit, but it does not become too uncomfortable.

OnePlus 7 goes for a dual-camera setup. It has a 48MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture which features phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilisation. Along with that, it has a 5MP depth-sensing lens for portraits. In the front, the phone hosts a 16MP selfie camera. In ideal light conditions, the OnePlus 7 clicks good photos, but the colours appear a bit muted. However, the details are captured well and though. It does not have laser autofocus, the phone tends to lock focus quickly. If the lighting is a bit bright or harsh, the phone enables HDR. In macros, the phone captures decent details, but the colours were inaccurate, and the images looked boosted and artificial. In low light, autofocus takes a bit of time, but the photos are still good. The edge detection in portrait mode is quite good, but the subjects did not appear to be sharp. Night mode landscape shots had a bit of noise but were mostly of good quality. Overall, the camera is a mixed bag with more good in favour of it than bad.

Video recording on OnePlus 7 goes up to 4K in 60fps. However, you have a 5-minute recording limit, and then for 4K 30 fps, you get a 10-minute recording limit. In the case of 1080p recording, the videos are quite stable. 4K recording looked oversaturated, and the low-light recording in 1080p had a bit of obvious shimmer effect. Slow-motion recording was kept at 1080p for 240fps and 720p for 480fps.

OnePlus 7arrives with a 3700 mAh battery, but it has dropped the Dash Charge. The battery is potent enough and can get about 15 hours and 16 minutes of run time when you are playing an HD video on loop. Moderate games involving social media and gaming will get it to 30% of charge by the end of the day, which is quite efficient. Charging is fast as well, taking about an hour and 16 minutes to get from 0 to 100%.

OnePlus 7 is overshadowed by OnePlus 7 Pro, but it has some good points. The AMOLED display of this phone is excellent and coupled with the power-packing Snapdragon 855; the phone delivers a beautiful experience. The battery of this phone is quite decent, and even the camera has more good in favour of it. However, the phone is not as polished as OnePlus 7 Pro and does not bring about a revolution that OnePlus 6T brought. If you do not wish to take out more money for OnePlus 7 Pro, then this phone could be a decent one to go for.  You can also consider Asus ZenFone 6 and the Redmi K20 Pro as well.
