OPPO Reno16 5G Review: Design and Build
One thing I admire most is the OPPO Reno16 5G design, which feels truly premium. Plus, the back features a "3D Pop Planet" design, where a holographic, planet-like effect is visible beneath the glass; it looks quite unique. The frame is also crafted from brushed aluminium.

The phone is compact and lightweight, making it easy to use with one hand. It’s perfect if you have smaller hands, though those with larger hands might find it a bit too small. I personally really appreciated how light it is.

During my OPPO Reno16 5G long-term review, I mostly used the phone without a case, even outdoors. After several months, there isn't a single scratch on the back panel or the frame. It also resists minor finger smudges, but they don't really show up.

One more thing: I didn't test its durability by repeatedly dropping it, so I can't comment on its drop protection. To be honest, it’s an expensive phone; I just didn't feel like risking it by dropping it.

Even though the display comes with "Crystal Guard" protection, I would still highly recommend applying a tempered glass screen protector or a film.

As for water resistance, the phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings. So, you can submerge it in water, and it held up perfectly. There’s even an "underwater photography" mode, allowing you to take photos and videos in a swimming pool. Since the touchscreen doesn't respond underwater, you have to operate the camera using the physical buttons.

Talking about ports, the phone also includes an IR blaster, which lets you use it as a remote control for your AC and other appliances. On the right side are the power and volume buttons, while the left side has an AI Snap Key button. At the bottom are a SIM tray, a microphone, and a speaker grille.

OPPO Reno16 5G Review: Camera
The OPPO Reno16 5G series is known for its photography, similar to the Vivo V series. It features three 50MP rear cameras: a main camera (Sony LYT-600), an ultra-wide lens, and a 3.5x periscope telephoto lens. The selfie camera is also 50MP.

During the OPPO Reno16 5G long-term review, I took plenty of photos using both the standard and portrait modes. I particularly liked the 3.5x portrait shots, which turn out exceptionally well. If you are passionate about photography and are looking for a high-quality camera, this phone could be a worthwhile investment at this price point.
In normal mode, you can click up to 10x zoom perfectly. You can see the sky colour and green leaves look perfect. Also, you can see my photos, which look amazing and perfectly defined.

The phone also offers 120x zoom. While the company has heavily highlighted this feature, it is rarely needed in real-world scenarios. I did experiment with the zoom, and the phone effectively enhances the images after they are captured.
As for video, both the front and rear cameras support 4K 60fps recording. In Cinematic mode, background blur and focus tracking work very effectively. The 'Ultra Steady' mode ensures excellent stabilisation, even when shooting at 4K 60fps. Additionally, the 'Audio Focus' feature does a great job of suppressing background noise, resulting in decent audio quality even without an external microphone.
In my view, the Reno 16’s camera outperforms those found on other phones in this price range. Since the company specifically designs this series with a focus on photography, they have prioritised the camera system while keeping other features relatively standard.

OPPO Reno16 5G Review: Battery and Charging
The OPPO Reno16 5G features a 6700mAh battery, which is quite impressive given the phone's size. Despite the device being slim and compact, the company has managed to fit in such a large battery. With regular use, it easily lasts me all day.

This phone consistently delivers 6 to 7 hours of screen-on time with a mix of 5G connectivity, social media browsing, messaging, video streaming, and casual gaming.
An 80W charger is included in the box. But during the OPPO Reno16 5G long-term review, I mostly used an Apple 20W charger to charge this phone, and it took almost one hour to fully charge.
OPPO Reno16 5G Review: Display
The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. While the size is compact, the display quality is excellent.

I used it both indoors and outdoors, and I had no complaints. Colours look quite accurate when watching content on YouTube.

I did notice one thing: when I went outside to test the camera in bright sunlight, the display sometimes felt a bit dim, even at full brightness. However, this happened only occasionally; most of the time, the display remains sufficiently bright. In my opinion, given the current price point, there are no major issues with the display.
I was genuinely impressed by the sound quality. The speakers are loud and clear; you can comfortably play games indoors even without using headphones or earphones. I also compared its speakers with those of other phones, and I found the Reno 16’s speakers to be superior.

OPPO Reno16 5G Review: Performance
The OPPO Reno16 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. Given its price point of around ₹67,000, this processor feels a bit underwhelming; essentially, you’re getting a rather adequate, but not what you’d expect at this price. This is the phone’s biggest drawback.
I also felt this because just a few days ago I finalised the OnePlus 13R long-term review, where gaming performance was at its peak.

The phone runs smoothly during daily tasks. I played BGMI and Asphalt 9 on it; I didn’t encounter any frame drops or lag, and the heating is well managed. If you play in a warm environment, say, just under a ceiling fan, the phone will get warm easily. But if you’re in an air-conditioned room, you won’t even notice any heating. It also supports 90fps in BGMI. The device comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
That said, if we’re talking about serious BGMI gaming, I would still choose the OnePlus 13R. If you are a gamer or need a phone for heavy-duty tasks, you can find better-performing options from other brands at this price point.

OPPO Reno16 5G Review: Software and UI
OPPO Reno16 5G runs on ColorOS 16, based on Android 16. OPPO has promised 5 years of software updates and 6 years of security updates for this device.

Overall, the UI is cool; it has AI suggestions on the home page, which suggest recently opened apps, fitness, and other things. Opening and closing is smooth.

One thing I hate most is that OPPO adds bloatware, unnecessary games, apps, and more apps. You can easily remove them from the app drawer.

The Reno 16 features an 'AI Snap Key.' In real-world usage, I didn't find it particularly useful, though it is there if you wish to utilise it. Pressing and holding it allows you to save items into 'Mind Space.' It can also be used to instantly silence the phone in an emergency. It’s better to have something than nothing at all; it might be useful for some, while others may not find much use for it.

As for AI features, it includes 'Circle to Search.' Additionally, there are tools like AI Eraser, AI Recognition, AI Writer, AI Translate, and AI VoiceScribe. You can save content to 'Mind Space,' which then generates a summary and provides ongoing recommendations. 'AI Suggest' displays weather updates and news tailored to your preferences right on your home screen. When 'AI Search' is enabled, your files appear in search results alongside your apps.

Another notable feature is the AI assistant called 'Mind Pilot,' which lets you choose between ChatGPT and Google Gemini. While 'AI Call Detection' wasn't available at launch, it was added to the dialer via an update; it identifies whether a call is from an AI or a real person. The phone also includes a sticker option, which I didn't find very useful, though some might enjoy trying it out just for fun.

After several months of use, I find the OPPO Reno16 5G to be a good phone, though it is expensive. It features a premium design, flawless build quality, a good display, and solid battery life and charging performance, with the camera as its strongest asset. In my opinion, its camera outperforms those found on other phones at this price point.
The drawback lies in the processor. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is adequate for daily tasks and playing BGMI, one would expect something better at this price. Furthermore, the cost has increased, and considering the features offered, the price tag feels too high.
If you are looking for a compact, lightweight, and stylish phone with a camera as your top priority, the Reno 16 is a great choice. However, if you are a heavy gamer or prioritise performance above all else, you should explore options from other brands within this budget. I hope you liked my OPPO Reno16 5G review; please comment with your thoughts.
