Vivo has recently launched the Vivo Y20 in India on August 26, this is a mid-range smartphone that will be directly competing with the Oppo A53 due to similarity in their specifications. Vivo Y20 packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 6.51-inch screen, and powering it all is a 5000mAh battery. This phone packs most of the features a modern smartphone has.

Vivo Y20 is going to be retailing with an MRP tag of ₹16,990 for the single 4GB+64GB variant. The official selling price of Vivo Y20 on online stores is Rs.12,990. This phone is available to purchase on Flipkart and other retail shops. This device comes as a great offering in the value for money segment and stands as a competition for the Xiaomi and Realme smartphones.
Vivo Y20 sports a plastic frame with a plastic back. The back gives off shiny looks akin to a phone with a glass back. There is nothing too premium about the design On the back, we have a triple camera setup and the LED flash to go with it while on the front we have a glass-based screen with a teardrop-shaped notch for the front camera. The volume buttons and the power button, which also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner, are placed on the right side of the device. On the bottom of the device, we have the micro USB port, the microphone, and the loudspeaker.
Vivo Y20 is available in Obsidian Black and Dawn White colour options and the device is 8.4mm thick and weighs in at about 192g.
The display used in the Vivo Y20 is a 6.51-inch 720 by 1600 pixel HD+ display with a 20:9 ratio. The display is of IPS technology with a screen-to-body ratio of 81.6% and a pixel density of 270ppi. There is a teardrop-shaped notch to house the front camera within the screen. The resolution is a bit less compared to the cost of the device.
The brains behind the Vivo Y20 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 which is an 11nm processor with clock speeds up to 1.8GHz. The phone comes in with single memory and storage variant of 4GB and 64GB respectively. The storage can be expanded via the dedicated microSD card slot provided up to 256GB of external storage.
Vivo Y20 runs on the latest Android 10 with Vivo’s Funtouch 10.5 skin on top of it.
Vivo Y20 has a triple camera setup on the back and a single camera at front of the device. The triple camera setup includes a 13MP main sensor with PDAF, a 2MP sensor for macro shots, and another 2MP sensor for depth effect. The camera has HDR enabled and uses an LED flash for lighting up the shots. The video output via the rear camera is rated at 1080p at 30fps. The front camera, on the other hand, includes a single 8MP wide sensor with video output rated at 1080p at 30fps which is the same as the rear camera.
The battery which powers the Vivo Y20 is a massive 5000mAh Li-Po battery with the capability of fast charging up to 18W with the power brick provided in the box. The fast charging may not seem so fast after all due to the massive capacity of the battery.
Vivo Y20 is a good phone for those looking to buy a sub ₹20,000 smartphone but the various shortcomings may steal the limelight from the good parts of this device. In conclusion, Vivo Y20 should be invested in by the buyers only after serious thinking and comparing the rival smartphones’ offerings.
