One major competition of the Vivo Y51A is the POCO X3 which offers somewhat better features in the same price bracket.
Vivo Y51A has an old teardrop-based design on the front with the front camera residing in the notch which leaves fewer bezels on the top and some noticeable bezels at the bottom front of the device. The back has the triple camera setup paired with a flash and a Vivo branding to go with it. The power and the volume buttons are placed on the right side of the device with the power button functioning as the fingerprint scanner. On the bottom of the device, we would find a USB Type-C port, a microphone and a loudspeaker.
Vivo Y51A is being sold in Titanium Sapphire and Crystal Symphony set of colours. The device is 8.38mm thick and weighs 188g.
Vivo Y51A has a 6.58-inch 2408 by 1080 pixels of FHD+ display. The panel is using LCD IPS technology. The display operates at the standard 60Hz of refresh rate. The display panel is decent for viewing content on the smartphone on a daily basis.
Vivo Y51A is boasting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC. It is based on the 11nm process and it goes up to a maximum clock speed of 2GHz. There is 8GB of memory and a 128GB of storage which can be expanded up to 1TB via the dedicated microSD slot. The Snapdragon 662 is a bit older but will work for light to medium usage without any hiccups.
Vivo Y51A has triple camera setup on the back whereas it has a single front selfie camera. The triple camera setup consists of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a third 2MP sensor. The rear cameras offer modes like Portrait, Photo, Video, Panorama, Live Photo, Slo-Mo, Time-Lapse, Pro, DOC, Super Night Mode, and AI 48MP. The front camera on the Vivo Y51A is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
The battery on the Vivo Y51A is a 5000mAh Li-Po battery. There is support for fast charging but it is only up to 18W, which is not much for a capacity like this. The battery capacity will be able to last a day and a half on light to medium usage but would last a day on heavy usage.
Vivo Y51A is a great smartphone and has some great specs. But the main thing which is plaguing this smartphone, and that is the fact that a similar phone by Vivo was launched a month earlier to the Y51A. This will confuse some potential consumers and this has been a long-time problem with Vivo. With this out of the way, Vivo Y51A is a good smartphone if one wishes for a mid-range device in a budget of ₹20,000.
