Lava Z6 sports an old teardrop-based design on the front with the front camera residing in the notch. There are still some bezels present even in this kind of design. The back has the triple camera setup paired with a flash, the fingerprint scanner and a LAVA branding to go with it. The power and the volume buttons are placed on the right side of the device. On the bottom of the device, we would find a USB Type-C port, a microphone and a loudspeaker.
Lava Z6 is being sold in Blue and Red set of colours. The device is 9m thick and weighs 190g.
Lava Z6 sports a 6.51-inch 1600 by 720 pixels of HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The panel is using the IPS LCD technology. The display operates at the standard 60Hz of refresh rate. The display panel is decent for viewing content on the smartphone on a daily basis and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
Lava Z6 is boasting a Mediatek Helio G35 octa-core SoC under the hood. It is based on the 12nm process and it goes up to a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz. There is 6GB of memory and a 64GB of storage which can be expanded via the dedicated microSD slot.
Lava Z6 runs on a stock version of Android 10 which will not hinder any performance.
Lava Z6 has triple camera setup on the back whereas it has a single front selfie camera. The triple camera setup consists of a 13MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide sensor and a third 2MP depth sensor. Some modes supported by the rear cameras are Ultra-wide Mode, Beauty Mode, HDR Mode, Burst Mode, Panorama, Night, AI Scene Detection, and Bokeh Mode. The rear cameras can use the LED flash to light up the scene for capturing better pictures.
The front camera on the Lava Z6 is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The selfie camera can use the screen as a flash when the selfies require a bit of glow up. The video output from both sets of cameras is set at a maximum rate of 1080p at 30fps.
The battery on the Lava Z6 is a 5000mAh Li-Po battery. There is no support advertised or claimed by Lava for fast charging on the Z6. This battery capacity will be able to last a day and a half on light to medium usage but would last a day on heavy usage.
Lava Z6 is a decent smartphone with a good set of internals with the pricing hitting a sweet spot. But the absence of any 4GB RAM variants may still hold some people back from investing a smartphone like this. Nevertheless, Lava has come a long way from making smartphones that weren’t able to stay in the market for long to smartphones like the Z6 which is a great competition to brands like Xiaomi and Realme.
