  • Review Summary

Vivo is known for delivering top-notch camera results in the mid-range category, and I’m using the Vivo V50 Elite Edition for review, which produces excellent image results. During the last month of extensive use, I utilised it to click in multiple conditions, which I’ll demonstrate in the following section. For your information, There is no difference from the Vivo V50; its Elite Edition comes with Vivo TWS 3e earbuds out of the box.

It’s too early to say, but Vivo still sticks to the Qualcomm SM7550-AB Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 (4 nm) chipset, which was also in the Vivo V30 and Vivo V40. So, there is no significant improvement in the performance segment.

While its battery capacity is also sufficient for a full day’s use on a single charge, its fast charging prowess is impressive, as it can fully charge it in just 47 minutes. There are a lot of things to talk about, let’s read about the Vivo V50 Elite Edition review in detail:

    • Zeiss co-engineered camera with unique filters and film camera mode

Vivo V50 Elite Edition Design and Build

The Vivo V50 Elite Edition has a lightweight of 189 grams, making it perfect for carrying anywhere. This phone features a dual-tone design, with its back having a matte finish and the frame having a shiny finish. Overall, its back is very soft and does not attract fingerprint smudges.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition design

Its Elite version is only available in Ancora Red (Rose Red) colour, which I’m using. This phone has a quad-curved display and a back that is perfect for holding. At the same time, it can also slip out of the hand, so using it with a protective cover will be a better option.

    camera design

As usual, it features an elliptical camera setup on the back, containing a dual camera with Zeiss branding and an Aura light. Its camera has a lower bump compared to its older model.

    side design

Vivo is trying to make its phone more powerful to protect it from damage. This device features a Diamond Shield Glass and a Mohs level 4 rating to protect the back and screen from accidental damage.

    top the phone

I also appreciated the IP68/IP69 dust-tight and water-resistant rating, which allows it to withstand high-pressure water jets and be immersed up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

    Bottom of the phone

Apart from this, the right side of the phone features a power button and a volume button. Moreover, the top of the phone has a secondary volume button and a microphone. At the bottom, there is a SIM tray, a microphone and a volume strip.

Overall, the Vivo V50 Elite Edition’s design and build review are exceptional, and its finish gives a premium feel.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition Camera

The Vivo V50 Elite Edition’s camera is a USP of this phone. This phone features a dual rear camera setup, including a 50MP wide-angle sensor and a 50MP ultrawide sensor.

I clicked several images in different conditions, and its results are exceptional compared to other phones.

During this phone review, I was also using the Vivo T4 Ultra, which is almost the same in specs and price segment. So, I compared its image quality with the T4 Ultra, but I found that the Vivo V50 offers crisp and more cinematic shots.

One thing to add is that the Vivo V50 camera is co-powered by Zeiss, which offers some preset filters and more clarity in images. image sampleHere, I have shared some image samples. So, you can see that the images are sharp and the detailing is almost perfect.

    image sample

The green colours and sky tones look very realistic. You can also see close-up images of flowers, capturing their exact colours and perfectly defined edges. Additionally, I took some pictures in both normal and portrait modes. The skin tones are almost a true representation of reality. The edges in the results are captured beautifully.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition portrait mode

Furthermore, the portrait mode produces a slightly cinematic effect, making the central subject more defined while the corners have a slightly darker hue, drawing additional focus to the main subject.

    image sample

Due to Ziess, it has different effects that you can use as you wish. I used a few that you can also try. However, one of the best images I liked is that it features a film camera, which you can open by sliding it up after opening the camera.

I clicked a few images that give you a Fujifilm Instant camera feel or an old-age camera feel. In the image result, it creates an effect and a frame around the image, adding location.

Moving on to the front camera, it delivers impressive results. It features a 50MP front-facing camera, which is great for video calls and vlogging.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition front camera

I took a few selfies and found them to closely resemble reality. Additionally, this phone performs well in low-light conditions. You can record 4K videos at 30fps using both the front and rear cameras.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition night mode

I recorded a few videos to check its audio capturing capabilities, and it almost picked up my voice clearly even in a noisy condition. So, overall, the Vivo V50 Elite Edition camera review is exceptional and definitely the best option to consider.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition Battery And Charging

The Vivo V50 Elite Edition features a 6000mAh battery and supports 90W fast charging. Its battery life depends on its use. If you are using it to watch movies or social media, it will offer almost 17 to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition battery

While it will be half during gaming or intense use, I managed to get almost eight to nine hours of battery life after playing games like BGMI and Asphalt 9. I believe the battery capacity is sufficient for most users.

    90W fast charger

I received a 90W charger in the box, while some so-called elite brands are removing chargers from their phones in the name of environmental responsibility. The 90W FlashCharge can provide six hours of talk time with just a 10-minute charge from one percent. I also verified that it can be fully charged from 0 to 100 percent in just 47 minutes.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition Display

The Vivo V50 Elite Edition features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 388 ppi density. This phone features a quad-curved display, providing clean visibility, but its bezels are clearly defined.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition Display brightness

This phone features a 120Hz refresh rate, providing fast display scrolling. You can adjust it from the settings to standard or smart switch. Additionally, you can enable visual enhancement from the settings to add more clarity to video streaming, but this consumes more battery.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition display

Moreover, it features an eye comfort option that can be activated from the settings. This feature slightly changes the screen to a yellowish tint, which can be less straining on your eyes.

Furthermore, I used it in sunlight, and I experienced almost perfect visibility, with nothing being hidden on the screen despite the harsh light, thanks to its 4500 nits of peak brightness.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition video quality

I also watched a few movies, and the colour quality is quite impressive; there are no colour drops or changes in the black tones. This phone supports HDR10+, enabling you to enjoy high-quality videos on YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming services.

Overall, the Vivo V50 Elite Edition display review is quite positive, with no significant drawbacks to mention.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition Performance

The Vivo V50 Elite Edition features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 (4 nm) chipset, the same one used in the Vivo V30 and V40. Vivo has opted to continue using this chipset in its last three models, which I consider a drawback for the phone.

The Elite Edition is available with only one configuration: 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Unfortunately, it still uses UFS 2.2 storage, which is disappointing for its price range; it should have UFS 4.0 instead.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition gamingI played a lot of BGMI, but my experience was quite poor. I encountered significant lag and high ping during crucial moments. If you’re passionate about BGMI gaming, I recommend looking for an alternative option.

While reviewing the phone, I felt frustrated multiple times; often, when I needed the performance the most, the ping would spike, or the game would freeze for a millisecond, causing me to get eliminated. In contrast, I’m currently using the Vivo T4 Ultra, and I’ve had no issues at all with it.

There is also a heating issue during gaming, and during the 3D Stress test, the phone reached its maximum temperature, prompting a heating warning.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition benchmark results

I did several Benchmark tests on the Vivo V50 Elite Edition to check its accurate performance in different aspects. Its Geekbench CPU scores are 1156 in single-core and 3039 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 95 percent. Moreover, its Antutu score is 562303. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 81 percent.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition Software and UI

The Vivo V50 Elite Edition operates on Android 15, featuring Funtouch OS 15. Users can expect a three-year major update and a five-year security update.

Vivo V50 Elite Edition UI Android 15

The user interface is clean and free of unnecessary bloatware, especially when compared to the Vivo V40.

    Vivo V50 Elite Edition UI

There are a few preinstalled apps, such as Snapchat, LinkedIn, Gimine, and several Vivo ecosystem applications, which can be uninstalled based on your preferences.

    UI UI

Overall, the UI animations are smooth and appealing. Notable features include an AI photo enhancer, AI SuperLink for improved network stability, and tools like Circle to Search and Live Text for enhanced content interaction.

    Verdict

After spending a month with the Vivo V50 Elite Edition 5G, it’s clear where its strengths lie. If you’re someone who prioritises camera performance above all else, this phone truly stands out.

The robust build, featuring Diamond Shield Glass and comprehensive IP ratings, also gives me peace of mind regarding its durability. Additionally, it has TWS earbuds included in the box, adding significant value.

However, I have to be honest about its performance. Vivo’s decision to stick with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for a third consecutive model, coupled with outdated UFS 2.2 storage, makes gaming a frustrating experience. I constantly faced lag and overheating, which is unacceptable for a phone in this segment, especially when compared to Vivo T4 Ultra.

This phone is for the casual user who wants great photos and battery. It’s a strong contender; for hardcore gamers, you might want to look elsewhere.

But you can also see some phones in the same price range, such as iQOO Neo 10Motorola Edge 60 Pro,  Xiaomi 14 Civi,  Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, etc. I hope you liked my Vivo V50 Elite Edition review.
