About the Phone
The complete package of carefully handpicked features in its design and build alongside a pretty decent processor, and the camera quickly makes it one of the best value for money phones in the market under the range of the 10,000/- mark. Also, the layer of toughness it possesses because of the Corning Gorilla Glass outdoes the Nokia 5.1 plus which has the pricing a bit on the higher side compared to the Lava Z81.
- Value for Money
- Good Display
- Decent Camera
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Lacks a Notch
- Available in only 2 Colors (Black and Gold)
Overall, the Lava Z81 can easily be the first choice for value phones when compared to the others in the same price range, in terms of the usability features without losing too much on the current trend of the ‘notch’ design. It makes your every penny spent feel its worth!
The Lava Z81 is one of the miniature versions of the premium smartphones ranging above the INR 10,000/-, but at a much stable and minimal scale. The Z81 has an in-built fingerprint sensor and smart face lock features which can help it to stand out from the other phones and brands that provide such features only above the range of INR 8,000/-. The phone powers itself by a 2 GHz Quad Core MediaTek Helio Processor that may not be as chic as the Snapdragon or Qualcomm processors but can help you have a lag-free experience nonetheless. Also, the 2GB RAM makes the phone responsiveness run smoothly in both the 2GB and 3GB variants. This phone comes with a predefined internal memory of 32 GB that can be further expanded to 128GBvia microSD card.
As for the viewing experience, the Lava Z81 flaunts a 5.7 inch IPS LCD at 18:9 ratio with a resolution of 720 X 1440 at 282 ppi – all secured with in-built Corning Gorilla Glass that makes you stay calm to scratches and damages to the display for real. Also, the device has a 13MP+13MP camera sets, front + rear for some decent casual photography, but doesn’t do very well at low light which would have been unusual for any phone at this price range.
The Z81 has the dimensions of 152.2*73*7.9mm and a weight of 141.6gm which fits right into your pocket easily. The 16M colours give an enhanced look and feel to the phone, but the real deal lies in the accessibility features like the Face Unlock, Fingerprint Sensor, Smart Gestures, AI Battery Manager, etc. at such an affordable price range. It also runs on Android 8.l, which is pretty stable. But due to the lack of any styling at the rear end of the phone and lacking a notch in the front might make it feel more in the past than in the current – but then again if you’re bored of grooves this phone may come as a refreshing change.
This device has a 5.7 inches Full HD+ IPS LCD Display with the protection of a Corning Gorilla Glass against all the daily wear and tears your device may face.
The Media Tek Helio A22 processor is both powerful and smooth in its operations that ensures you a seamless user experience even when you’re multitasking. However, the 3D games run pretty quiet on the interface, there might be some lag issues before the 20 minutes mark since the processor gets too much worked up and stalls. The Z81 has an enhanced clarity when it comes to calls and features a 2GB and 3GB RAM variants and having an expandable internal memory of 16GB and 32GB respectively.
The Z81 is loved mostly because of its premium cameras and its features. While the 13MP cameras in the front and the rear each provides a refined image quality, the AI Studio Mode makes sure that you get the most of photography features like Real-time Bokeh, Face Beauty, HDR, Super Night, Filter, Template, Panorama, GIF Mode, Intelligent Selfie – all in one place at a much lesser cost. However, the photos could have a much better quality when it comes to low-light photography, but then considering the price range that the Z81 comes from, the low-light photography couldn’t have been better than it already is here.
The Z81 has a decent battery of 3000mAH Li-Polymer battery that lasts for more than 20 hours in 3G talk time, 29 hours in 4G talk time straight without plugging in for charging. Such efficiency in battery longevity can easily make it a handy phone, especially on the run.
Overall, the Lava Z81 has a lot of potential that it can achieve, some of which can give the more superior smartphones a tough run – being one of the most favoured and budget ‘premium’ phones for everyday usage.
