The Velvet is an illustrative and brilliantly designed minimalistic phone that boasts some impressive internals with a major focus on the camera. The LG Velvet gets a gorgeous OLED panel but still features an old-school waterdrop style notch. The device comes with three power-packed cameras equipped to provide high-resolution images even under low light and shoot 4K videos with noise-cancelling AI. The Velvet apart from getting a stunning look leaves no checkboxes unticked which would make it a bad choice in the smartphone market.
LG Velvet Price in India
The LG Velvet costs 899,800 Korean won in the international market. The price in India for LG Velvet and its availability is still unknown. The expected price in India for LG Velvet is Rs.54,999.
Considering that LG wants to make a comeback in the market, the price is kept very high.
The LG Velvet sports a great design with a curved glass rear panel to reflect light. The symmetrical design of the camera module makes it stand out. The on-screen fingerprint scanner is designed for easy access. There is a pin-hole camera in the centre of the display for the selfie camera.
The set comes with a signature stylus very similar to the S pen.
The LG Velvet has the same IPS OLED display panel which we have seen on previous LG smartphones. So, there’s a 6.8-inch FHD+ display with a dated water-drop notch housing the camera in the centre. The screen comes with curved sides, giving it a very impressive and immersive full-view experience. With a pixel density of 395 PPI, the screen has a 20.5:9 aspect ratio. However, the presence of a Quad-HD panel along with a higher refresh rate is missing.
With a major focus on improving the performance, the LG Velvet packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. This gets paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. If you think that’s not enough it comes with a micro SD card internal storage expandable up to 1TB.
The LG Velvet focuses on the camera. There is a triple camera setup at the back. The camera resembles water droplets which are perfectly aligned vertically. The primary sensor is of 48 megapixels with a standard lens and an aperture of f/1.8. We also get an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and finally 5-megapixel macro lens with an aperture of f/2.4 rear autofocus and LED flash. The front camera is of 16 megapixels.
The LG Velvet uses pixel bidding technology on its sensor to join 4 pixels to give better pictures under low light provide 4Kvideos with image stabilization and removing unwanted sounds from videos. The waterdrop notch at the front camera wraps the 16MP selfie camera.
The LG Velvet has a huge 4300 mAh battery which supports 30W fast charging using a USB Type-C cable. Additionally, there is a 10W wireless charging capability.
The LG Velvet offers a lot more to the user in a good price segment. With powerful cameras, LG has focused on making sensible decisions while adopting the Snapdragon 765 system on chip to reduce the cost of the LG Velvet. The Velvet is truly a ‘design-centric’ smartphone boasting some high-quality hardware along with decent internals.
