Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen launched in India by the e-commerce major Amazon. Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) is the successor of the Amazon Echo Dot (4th Gen) which the company launched in 2020. Although, Amazon promises “deeper bass and clearer voices than all previous generations”.

As the smart speaker is based on Amazon virtual assistant Alexa, users can use Hindi and English voice commands to play music, control smart home appliances, set timers and add reminders.

Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen launched

The new Amazon Echo Dot (5th-Gen) costs Rs 5,499, but the company is offering it at an introductory price of Rs 4,999. With a temporary price cut, the smart speaker will be available on Amazon India from March 2 to March 4.

The Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen launched in three colour variants i.e. black, blue and white colour options. Users can also buy it from Croma, Reliance Digital and other online and offline stores.

Specifications

The new Amazon Echo Dot 5th gen launched in India looks similar to the 4th-Gen model, though the former is lighter (304 grams). Users need to connect the speaker to a power source and Wi-Fi to use it. In addition, the speaker must be paired with the Alexa app for Android or iOS. The speaker supports dual-band Wi-Fi.

The driver size has been increased on the new Echo Dot (5th-Gen) to deliver louder sound output. Amazon has also removed the 3.5mm audio jack on the current-gen model.

In-built ultrasound motion detection and temperature sensor

The biggest addition this year is the in-built ultrasound motion detection and temperature sensor that allows customers to set up helpful smart home routines with compatible gadgets. With it, users can use the Amazon Echo Dot (5th-Gen) to “automatically turn on the room lights when they enter the room” and “automatically switch on the AC if the room gets too hot.” ” can do.

The Alexa app already lets users set routines to turn on/off compatible gadgets at specific hours. The new Amazon Echo Dot (5th-Gen) smart speaker also includes in-line controls for managing volume and triggering Alexa, similar to the older models. A mic-off button is also provided to ensure the privacy of the users.
