Asus has launched their ROG Phone 5s series of flagship gaming smartphones in Taiwan and China. The latest series consists of the Asus ROG Phone 5s and Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro smartphones. These have launched as upgraded versions of the Asus ROG Phone 5 and Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition. The series has a lot of things in common like the Snapdragon 888+ SoC and 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

The ROG Phone 5s features a 6.78-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. In addition, the display comes with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 360Hz touch sampling rate. We can also see a 1ms response time and peak brightness of 1,200nits along with HDR and HDR 10+ support.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the 2.995GHz Snapdragon 888+ SoC. The chipset pairs up with Adreno 660 graphics along with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone comes with GameCool 5 mechanism along with an aerodynamic fan to reduce the CPU temperature. This mechanism claims to reduce CPU temps by 10 degrees. At the back, we can see the RGB logo of Asus ROG.

When it comes to optics, the ROG Phone 5s features a 64-megapixel Sony IMX 686 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Additionally, the primary sensor is accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. At the front, the smartphone features a 24-megapixel selfie shooter. The camera is packed with features like 8K video recording support. Moreover, we can also see a 3-axis electronic image stabilisation on the camera setup as well.

On the battery front, the smartphone packs a 6,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. The device also comes with 10W reverse charging support. The smartphone also packs all the essential connectivity options like dual-band Wi-Fi, sub-6GHz 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB Type-C 3.1 and 2.0. The handset also comes with DisplayPort 1.4 and a 3.5mm audio jack as well. When it comes to software, the flagship device runs on Android 11 with the ROG UI custom skin on top.

Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro Specifications

The ROG Phone 5s Pro comes with a secondary PAMOLED ROG Vision display. Now, this displays incoming calls, charging and other animations. The smartphone also comes with two rear touch sensors which act as gaming controllers. The smartphone comes with AeroActive Cooler 5 which attaches to a cooling fan along with two buttons. These come in the box itself. The good news is that users of ROG Phone 5 can use its accessories with the 5s series of smartphones as well.

Prices and Availability

The ASUS ROG Phone 5s price in Taiwan is set at TWD 29,990 for the base 16GB/256GB variant. Now, this converts to roughly Rs. 80,000. Another variant with whopping 18GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage is available as well. The price of this variant is set at TWD 33,990 which converts to approximately Rs. 90,000. The smartphone comes in the Phantom Black and Aurora White colour options.

On the other hand, the ROG Phone 5s Pro price in Taiwan is set at TWD 37,990 for the single 18GB/512GB variant. This converts to Rs. 1,00,000 in the Indian market. Moreover, the device comes in the Phantom Black colour option.

When it comes to availability, the flagship devices are currently only available in Taiwan and China. Although the company has not revealed anything about the India launch of the series, we can expect to see them launch in the country in the coming weeks.
