Just last week, Apple announced its latest flagship series – iPhone 13. Now, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is hinting at its successor’s specifications. Kuo shared some of his key hardware expectations for next year’s tentatively named iPhone 14 Pro models. He is suggesting that there might be no notch at all in the next year’s Pro models.

As per Kuo’s recent research note, Apple will be replacing the notch on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with a punch-hole display. Kuo’s prediction also corroborates Jon Prosser’s renders shared days before the iPhone 13 announcement. Kuo predicts that both the Pro models would feature 48MP wide cameras, something we have heard once before.

Now, the punch-hole display design makes that the iPhone 14 Pro model will have a small cut-out for just its camera. This design will see the end of the notch era and the Face ID sensor may move below the display. As for the rear camera, the 48-megapixel wide-angle lens will be an upgrade to the 12-megapixel wide-angle lens of the iPhone 13 Pro model. Ming-Chi Kuo also reiterated that Apple plans to release the third-generation iPhone SE supporting 5G in the first half of 2022.

Apple is expecting to release the iPhone 14 lineup in the second half of 2022. This is in line with the usual launch timing. According to his previous claims, Apple will launch the first iPhone with an under-screen fingerprint sensor in the second half of 2022. However, he now expects these devices to arrive in the second half of 2023. Kuo Ming-Chi also predicts that Apple’s first foldable iPhone will be launch in 2024.
