iQoo 8 series will launch on August 17th, according to the company. It will be the successor to the iQoo 7, which launched in January. Apparently, its’ range will include two models: the vanilla and the iQoo 8Pro. Earlier rumours speculates that it will have a 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. However, in a recent development, the rumour now stands confirmed thanks to the official teaser.
iQOO 8 Teaser Reveals Display Specs
Now, a teaser on Weibo on Wednesday, reveals iQOO 8 will feature Samsung’s E5 display with 2K resolution. Moreover, it claims to be the world’s first smartphone to come with the next-generation Samsung display. The E5 display on the smartphone will have a 517ppi pixel density. In addition, it will produce up to a billion colours. iQoo also highlighted in the teaser a glimpse of the phone from its top side. The teaser image also clearly shows a hole-punch display design on the new smartphone.
This new display on iQOO 8 is likely to deliver an upgraded user experience over the iQoo 7. The latter launched with a 6.62-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display. Moreover, Samsung also launched the E4 AMOLED display in the past in various smartphones. For example Asus ZenFone 8, Black Shark 4, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11i, and the Realme GT Master Edition.
On the basis of what we know so far, the iQOO 8 series will be the first commercial smartphone to run the hardware with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset. It will also have a 120Hz refresh rate QHD+ AMOLED screen. The refresh rate bases on the displayed content are also adjusted dynamically with the software. This is an exclusive high-end feature present on a few smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Moreover, iQOO 8 could also feature 12GB of RAM, 4GB of virtual memory and up to 256GB of storage.
The launch event will be taking place at 7:30 p.m. (5 pm IST). iQOO 8 series is confirmed to launch on August 17 in China. So, we will know more about the smartphone as its launch comes closer.
