With a familiar glass sandwich design, the Galaxy S21 Ultra now gets bigger and wider, which can be justified by the fact that it now supports S-Pen. At the back is a trendy rectangular camera module house the quad-camera system of the device. But the camera module now gets a carbon fibre-like finish which is a nice change to see.
With IP68 water and dust resistance, the S21 ultra gets Gorilla Glass Victus at the front and back. The device gets available in 5 new and fancy colour options to choose from – Blue, Brown, Gray, Phantom Black and Phantom Silver.
With the display being the USP of any Samsung devices, the S21 Ultra has a lot to mention regarding its display. At the front is a 6.8-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display which gets a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a pixel density of 516ppi. With the introduction of S21 Ultra, Samsung has finally overcome the limitation of allowing its users to either use their display at 120Hz refresh rate or at Quad-HD resolution. This means that you can finally use the Ultra screen to run at 120Hz at QHD resolution. With a usual punch hole camera module placed at the centre, the device also features an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor underneath the display.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is also the first device in this series to flaunt the support for the S Pen, which we only had on the Galaxy Note series.
With the S21 series being a family of flagship devices, we get to see industry’s top of the line performance chipsets under the hood. So, the Galaxy S21 Ultra gets powered by the Exynos 2100 SoC globally. It’s worth noting that in select markets, we also get to see devices getting powered by the Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm. Coupling these powerful chipsets is an option to choose between 12/16GB RAM and 128/256/512GB UFS 3.1 storage configurations.
Coming to the software, the device gets pre-loaded with One UI 3.1 which runs on top of Android 11.
Camera being of the major difference between the S21 Ultra and the usual Galaxy S21 is definitely highlighted on the spec sheet of the S21 Ultra. So, at the back is a second-generation 108-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 10MP folded periscope for 10x optical magnification along with a new 10MP 3x telephoto camera. The S21 ultra now boasts a Laser AF module instead of a 3D ToF sensor that we saw on the S20 Ultra. The rear camera can record videos at up to 8K at 24/30fps.
Coming to the front, residing in the punch-hole is a 40MP selfie camera which gets f/2.2 aperture and is capable of recording 4K videos at 30/60fps.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra flaunts a slightly larger 5000mAh battery as compared to the 4800mAh cell on the usual S21/S21+. The device also supports fast charging and fast wireless charging speeds that can go up to 45W and 15W respectively. Like its predecessor, we also get to see reverse wireless charging support on the S21 Ultra too.
No doubt, Samsung’s 2021 Flagship smartphone series offers the best performance and features that you can expect in any flagship device of this era. This stands even better for the mightier Galaxy S21 Ultra, which packs all top-of-the-line feature in a gorgeous body with the 108MP quad-camera and the gorgeous Quad-HD+ display being the highlight.
