OnePlus Nord N200 launched just weeks ago in the US markets. It features a Snapdragon 480 SoC and a 90Hz display with a cheaper price tag than the OG Nord. However, now in a recent release, the brand has confirmed that the timeline for the device software updates. Although this is the company’s new venture into the entry-level smartphone with N10 and N100. It does give some good features considering the brand and its price.
Software Update for OnePlus Nord N200
In smartphones, software updates have become a serious point of concern for devices. Especially OnePlus considering how it is merging with Oppo to bring fast and improved quality of updates. According to the company, OnePlus Nord N200 will get one major software update, presumably Android 12, considering it ships with Android 11. Additionally, OnePlus will also provide three years of “maintenance updates” to the N200.
However, the brand refrained from promising any timeline for the major software update. OnePlus also did not reveal the time gap between the two maintenance updates. To recall, the OnePlus Nord N200 is the company’s most affordable smartphone for the US, starting at $239. OnePlus is using a Snapdragon 480 chip to bring 5G to the masses with this one.
This bit of announcement is quite different from what the brand usually offers to its other devices. However, with its Nord series, they are pursuing different philosophy. Moreover, even in the Nord series, some phones get up to two years of OS updates. Whereas the entry-level models like OnePlus Nord N200 only getting a single one now.
Meanwhile, other leaks also suggest that the company is planning to bring another Nord addition – Nord 2 in the mix. However, there is no confirmation as of now considering OnePlus Nord N200 and Nord CE 5G just launched. Now, separately, the brand has also announced its deeper integration with Oppo for a better software experience. Although it denies that it will lose the Oxygen OS.
