It has been stressful since a passenger’s phone caught fire mid-flight. As a result, many people were left wondering what causes cellphones to burst into flame. Unfortunately, in the last few years, we’ve seen a few situations when mobile battery fires have resulted in injuries to users. Some users have even perished as a result of these uncommon occurrences.

A phone is said to have burst into flames on an Indigo aircraft from Dibrugarh to Delhi. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the airline, the event took place on April 14. The event did not result in any injuries.

According to the DGCA, the phone went up in flames because of “abnormal overheating” in the battery. An extinguisher was used to put out the fire as soon as the cabin staff member saw the phone’s smoke and sparks coming from it.

“On aircraft 6E 2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi, a mobile device battery overheated unnaturally. However, the staff is well-versed in dealing with potentially dangerous situations, and they did it with ease in this instance. The airline said in a statement that no passengers or property were harmed.

An igniting phone in flight isn’t exactly unprecedented. Airlines have begun taking precautions if a passenger’s electronic equipment powered by lithium-ion battery goes up in flames onboard a plane.”

Be cautious to only purchase a charger for your iPhone from a trusted online or offline retailer.

2. Overnight charging

Overcharging a phone may also affect the battery’s health. Most of us have a habit of plugging our phones in while we sleep. I don’t think that’s good practice. As soon as the phone reaches 100% charge, you should unplug the charger
