OPPO has been reportedly working towards developing their very own foldable smartphone. Rumours of an OPPO Foldable phone being in the works have been there for quite some time now. Foldable smartphones are the new big thing when it comes to the premium range of smartphones. Ever since Samsung released their Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series of foldable flagships, they have been in demand more than ever before.
Now, the foldable smartphone by OPPO is becoming more and more of a reality. This is mostly because of the fact that it has been increasingly appearing on leaks and reports as of late. As per a previous leak, the OPPO foldable phone will come with a Moto Razr like design. Now, popular tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed something important about the upcoming device.
OPPO Foldable Phone
Digital Chat Station reveals the key specifications of the OPPO foldable phone. The noted tipster took to Weibo to post this piece of information. According to Digital Chat Station, the upcoming OPPO foldable smartphone will come with a 7.8-inch or an 8-inch display. In addition, the display has also been tipped to come with a 2K resolution. Moreover, we will also be seeing an AMOLED display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate.
On the processor front, the OPPO foldable phone specs will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. So indeed, the OPPO foldable will be a top of the class premium flagship smartphone, just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Moving to optics, Digital Chat Station reveals that the upcoming smartphone will come with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor. Now, this particular sensor has been widely used in quite a few smartphones. These include the OPPO Reno 7, OnePlus Nord 2 and OnePlus 9 Pro. At the front, the tipster reported that the smartphone will sport a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.
Digital Chat Station also tips the upcoming OPPO foldable phone to come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Now, this could be because an in-display fingerprint sensor would definitely not be an ideal choice on a foldable flagship device.
When it comes to software, the foldable phone will reportedly run on Android 11 OS with the ColorOS 12 custom skin on top. Another thing to note here is that OPPO has recently announced their Android 12-based ColorOS 12. So, there is a possibility that the foldable flagship could run on this combo instead.
