watchOS 9 With Enhanced Health Tracking Unveiled At WWDC 2022

On Monday, Apple revealed watchOS 9 at the WWDC 2022 keynote. Apple Watch owners will be able to better track their health and fitness with the latest watchOS release, which also includes the ability to continually monitor atrial fibrillation (AFib) and enhanced sleep tracking. With the release of watchOS 9, Apple has also launched the Medications app. In addition, watchOS 9 includes new watch faces and an improved user interface.

Apple has also added new workout capabilities in order to appeal to fitness aficionados. The watchOS 9 upgrade was first made available to Apple Developer Program members. Users will be able to try out a public test of watchOS 9 next month.

This fall, Apple Watch Series 4 or later paired with iPhone 8 or later and iPhone SE (2020) or later running iOS 16 will receive the next watchOS as a free software update (somewhere in September).

The extension of fitness and health tracking is one of the most significant developments in the watch. The latest watchOS release includes an AFib History function that allows users to track and monitor their atrial fibrillation over a certain time period, such as a day or week. Users can also send their doctor a PDF of their AFib patterns.

Playtime, as well as improved Astronomy, Lunar, and Metropolitan watch faces, are all included in the watch release. New features across all workout types, including heart rate zones, are included in the update. There’s also a new custom workout mode that lets you create alerts specific to your workout.

Apple has also included a multi-sport exercise option that, according to Apple, uses sensor fusion on the Apple Watch to “identify when you finish one leg of your race and transition to the next so it can seamlessly

In addition to the improved workout experience, watch adds Sleep Stages to the Apple Watch to improve sleep tracking. The new addition, according to the business, can detect REM, Core, and Deep sleep stages.

The Pills app in Apple smartwatch allows users to track their medications, vitamins, and supplements discreetly from their wrist. Users can also use the iPhone camera to scan a pharmaceutical label and add the information to the Apple Watch’s preloaded software.

The new watchOS release includes the Reminders app, which allows users to enter or edit important facts like date and time, location, tags, and notes. There’s also the new Calendar app, which lets you add new events right from your Apple Watch. “Health data is encrypted on device and is not shared without your explicit permission,” Apple said during the speech.
