WWDC 2022: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Launched With New M2 Chipset

Apple introduced the all-new MacBook Air featuring a robust unibody construction, fast charging capability, a notched display, and the M2 CPU at the WWDC 2022 event. The new MacBook Air features MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt ports, and a headphone connector, similar to the 14-inch MacBook Pro. Silver, space grey, starlight and midnight are the four bright colours available. Apple also unveiled a new MacBook Pro model with the M2 processor and a 13-inch display.

The new M2 processor will be used for the first time in the 2022 MacBook Air. It receives a completely new design language that builds upon the preceding model. It’s slimmer and lighter than the one before it. The MagSafe charging connector is available on the all-new MacBook Air.

Like the 14-inch MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air 2022 has a 13.6-inch display with a notch for the FaceTime camera. The screen is 20 per cent brighter than the previous model’s. The speakers and microphones are built within the keyboard. For stereo audio and better clarity, there’s a three-mic array and a four-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio capability.

A Magic Keyboard and a huge TouchPad are included with the MacBook Air 2022. The M2 MacBook Air outperforms the M1 MacBook Air by 20 per cent. Apple boasts a fanless design and 18 hours of movie playback on a single charge. The MacBook Air also has quick charging capabilities, with a 67W charger capable of charging the notebook to 50 per cent in just 30 minutes.

MacBook Pro Specifications

The new MacBook Pro is also powered by the M2 chipset. The new M2 chipset in the 2022 MacBook Pro offers better CPU and GPU performance than its predecessor. It comes with a 13-inch Retina display that lacks the notch found on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro versions. On a single charge, the new MacBook Pro claims up to 20 hours of battery life.

The new Apple M2 chipset features up to 24GB of unified memory, a next-generation 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores, and a next-generation 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores.

The M2 chipset improves on the M1 chipset by 18 per cent in terms of performance. The new M2 MacBook Air costs USD 1,199 (about Rs. 93,000), while the M2 MacBook Pro costs USD 1,299 (around Rs. 93,000). (approx. Rs. 1,01,000).
