Redmi A7 Pro 5G Design and Build

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G features a textured back panel which gives an amazing look. Its texture and glittery effect become visible when viewed from different angles.

    Redmi A7 Pro 5G design

The phone is 8.15mm thick. While it cannot be described as very slim, the design is decent considering the large 6300mAh battery. Weighing 210 grams, the phone feels a bit heavy in the hand.

    side

The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the power button and works efficiently. The phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port (supporting USB 2.0). A speaker grille is located at the bottom, though there is no secondary noise-cancellation microphone at the top.

    side

The volume rocker and power button are positioned on the right side, while the SIM slot is on the left. It supports dual SIM cards and allows for storage expansion via a microSD card of up to 2TB.

    bottom

The phone holds an IP52 rating, offering protection against light water splashes. It also features ‘Wet Touch’ technology, allowing the display to be used even when there are water droplets on the screen.

Overall, the phone’s look and build quality are impressive for its price point.

    Redmi A7 Pro 5G Camera

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G features a 32-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. In terms of photography, outdoor shots have average dynamic range.

However, a slight green tint may be noticeable in indoor photos. Overall, the rear camera captures good images considering the price.

You can also capture images in portrait mode, and results are fine enough. During the Redmi A7 Pro 5G review, I captured a few images, which you can see in the samples.

    portrait mode

The front camera offers both normal and portrait modes. The camera app includes an AI Sky feature that lets the sky in photos be altered using AI.

Redmi A7 Pro 5G front camera

The rear camera supports 1080p video recording at 30 fps. Outdoor videos show good quality, though stabilisation is average. The front camera also supports 1080p video recording at 30 fps.

Video quality remains decent even when recording in low-light conditions. Front camera footage is also good for everyday use.

Redmi A7 Pro 5G Battery and Charging

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G features a large 6300mAh battery, which is one of its standout highlights. So, it can last almost eight to nine hours of screen-on time, which is excellent in terms of price. It can also easily last up to three days on a single charge.

Redmi A7 Pro 5G battery life

However, it only supports 15W charging; this cannot be classified as fast charging. Charging the phone overnight ensures it is fully charged by morning.

    Redmi A7 Pro 5G Display

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G sports a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It offers 83% NTSC colour coverage, resulting in good colour accuracy.

    Redmi A7 Pro 5G display

However, the display resolution is HD+. The visual experience could have been better with a Full HD+ panel. It features a drop-notch design, whereas a punch-hole display would have offered a more modern look.

    refresh rate

The 120Hz refresh rate ensures a smooth experience while scrolling and gaming. Despite having a 720p display, it comes with Widevine L1 certification, allowing for high-definition content streaming on Netflix.

    display

You can also play 4K 60fps HDR content on YouTube. But there may be a slight, occasional lag when playing 4K videos with HDR enabled, as I experienced during the Redmi A7 Pro 5G review.

    brightness

The display has a peak brightness of 800 nits. Indoor visibility is good, while visibility in direct sunlight is average. Overall, the display performance is decent for this price point.

    Redmi A7 Pro 5G Performance

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G is powered by the Unisoc T8300 processor instead of a MediaTek or Snapdragon chipset. The variant I’m using for this review comes with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. This is best suited for normal usage like casual social media scrolling, watching videos, etc without any lag problems.

However, due to the UFS 2.2 storage, the phone may take a little longer to boot up, and occasional lag is noticeable during use. Also, I noticed that if you open most apps at the same time, you may be less responsive and slower.

    Redmi A7 Pro 5G gaming

This phone is not specifically designed for gaming. In BGMI, the game can be played on ‘Smooth’ and ‘Extreme’ settings with support for up to 60fps; however, intermittent lag may occur during gameplay. During the Redmi A7 Pro 5G review, I played a few games like Asphalt, but this phone is not suited for gaming.

Redmi A7 Pro 5G Software and UI

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G runs on HyperOS 3.0 out of the box, based on Android 16. The phone comes with several pre-installed applications, which can be uninstalled if desired.

    Android 16 HyperOS 3

It supports AI features like ‘Circle to Search,’ though the device does not offer an extensive range of AI features. A call recording option is also included; the other party is not notified when a call is being recorded.

    UI

The company promises four years of major Android updates and six years of security patch updates for the device. The phone features a single bottom-firing speaker with average sound output.

    UI UI

Connectivity options include dual 5G SIM support with eight 5G bands, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4. However, it lacks support for an IR blaster and NFC.

    Verdict

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G offers a large 6300mAh battery, 120Hz display, decent cameras, and long-term software support. However, slow 15W charging, an HD+ display, and occasional performance issues hold it back. Overall, it is a decent option for users who prioritise battery life and everyday usage. I hope you enjoyed reading my Redmi A7 Pro review. Please comment down your opinion on that.
