Xiaomi is working on a new sound charging technology, according to reports. According to patents submitted by the Chinese tech giant, which claims to be India’s top smartphone brand, the next charging solution would use sound to recharge smartphones as well as other electronics’ batteries.

The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) patent photos reveal some critical elements about Xiaomi’s sound charging patent. According to the documents, it will apparently use a sound charging gadget, an energy storage device, and an electronic gadget. These gadgets will capture sound and convert vibrations in the surroundings into mechanical vibrations. Xiaomi will also include an electronic device that will convert the mechanical device to an alternating current. Finally, the power converter will convert AC to DC (Direct Current).

This charging technology, according to the patent, may be used to charge smartphones and other electronic gadgets without the usage of a power socket. The fact that the company has registered a patent does not guarantee that it will use the technology in the near future. When it comes to commercializing new technology, there are several variables to consider. We’ll have to wait and watch whether Xiaomi shows off its sound charging technology in the near future.

The company recently unveiled its 200W HyperCharge technology, which can fully charge a 4000 mAh battery in under eight minutes. It also demonstrated Mi Air Charge, which recharges the device’s batteries without the use of a charging cable or adapters.

Xiaomi says that its new Mi Air Charge Technology can charge several smartphones wirelessly at the very same time. For the Mi Air Charge Technology, Xiaomi presently holds 17 patents. Smartwatches and other wearable devices can be charged using the new wireless charging technology.

The company stated that it is aiming to improve the technology so that it can charge more smart devices, such as smart speakers, desk lamps, and other smart home devices. At this time, there is no news on when the Mi Air Charging technology will be officially released.
