Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has recently launched its latest addition to the Y-series, the Vivo Y100, in India. The smartphone has been designed to cater to the growing demand of consumers for feature-packed, affordable devices. The highlight of the device is its MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC which makes it a powerful and efficient smartphone. Along with that, the Vivo Y100 also boasts some interesting features, such as the colour-changing back panel, which is sure to grab attention. The unique appearance of the Vivo Y100 is one of its selling points. Differentiating it from the competition is the rear panel’s capacity to change colour. Metal black, pacific blue, and twilight gold is especially striking and alluring because they undergo radical transformations when exposed to UV radiation.

The three camera lenses and LED flash are neatly housed in two concentric rings on the rear of the device’s well-designed camera module. The OIS engraving on the rear plate elevates the overall design. The smartphone’s glass construction sets it different from cheaper plastic models.

Nevertheless, the screen is not very legible in harsh sunlight, despite having responsive touch controls. As compared to other aspects of the Vivo Y100, the screen is a weak spot.

The phone, however, has a lot of bloatware loaded by default, which may eat up space on the device’s internal memory and slow it down over time. On the front, the 16MP selfie lens captures decent-quality selfies with good details, colours, and contrast. However, its performance in low light conditions is not as impressive as the main camera.

Vivo Y100 comes with a 4500mAh battery that provides a full day of battery life with moderate usage. The device supports 44W Flash fast charging, which charges the battery from 0 to 100% in less than an hour, providing convenience to the users. It is worth noting that the battery capacity could have been increased to 5000mAh, which is now a common feature in many smartphones.

Vivo Y100 Verdict

Vivo Y100 offers an attractive design with its colour-changing back panel and powerful performance thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset. The camera also performs well, and the user-friendly FunTouch OS 13 adds to the overall experience. However, the display could have been better with thinner bezels and a higher refresh rate, and the battery life may not be enough for heavy users. Additionally, there is some pre-installed bloatware that can be a downside for some users. Nevertheless, the fast charging support is a plus point.
