GTA 6 is now placed directly on the rumour bandwagon. On 4 February 2022, Rockstar announced on its official Twitter handle that “active development for the next entry in the series is underway”. This was a direct reference to the Grand Theft Auto series. Since then, however, there have been little to no developments regarding the game. You don’t have to worry, though. Whether you’re looking for GTA 6 rumours, leaks, or news, we’ve got you covered here.

Whatever the situation may be with GTA 6, Rockstar has a massive task on its hands. The previous numbered entry in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, has been doing exceptionally well. It won multiple Game Of The Year awards, was remastered for the PC and the next-gen consoles, and its online component is still holding up well. With so much success and multiple projects, Rockstar has kept the fans waiting for quite a while. Although it has recently released the GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and GTA V: Next-Gen, it could now be time for Rockstar to start work on the next entry in the franchise.

What is the GTA 6 Release Date?

Since the company has recently announced that “active development” has started on GTA 6, we don’t have an official release date so far. However, there are key takeaways from select points. Currently, the estimated release date for GTA 6 is 2024. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar‘s parent company, acquired Zynga at the beginning of 2022. During that time, the company projected a compound annual growth rate of 14 per cent. Now, 14 per cent is a huge number, even for a company as big as Take-Two.

According to multiple sources, such as Stephen Totilo of Axios, only a few games could make Take-Two this confident about their growth rate. In all likelihood, it’s going to be GTA 6. Even if we go back as far as July 2021, a renowned leaker called Tom Henderson stated that GTA 6 might release in 2024 or 2025. Tom is a reputed freelance writer who’s known for his accurate reports on Call of Duty games. Other sources have also corroborated Henderson’s estimations.

Finally…

The final nail in the coffin for a 2024 release date window exists. Basically, there’s an SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) filing that states the existence of Take-Two spending up to $90 million on advertising in 2024. Very few games would have the draw required to invest huge amounts of money in advertising. Ultimately, we can assume that GTA 6 could be released sometime in 2024.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC platform?

Although GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 took some time to come to PC, the PC versions were beautifully crafted. They took maximum advantage of the better hardware range on PC platforms while also optimising their game for weaker systems. Due to this thorough development, both of these games were highly successful on PC and boosted the games’ sales even further. Moreover, Rockstar removed the usage of the Rockstar Social Club and started using Rockstar Games Launcher for PC players in 2019. All these points lead toward the possibility of a PC release for GTA 6. We can only hope that the PC version of the game releases within the first year of GTA 6‘s release on console. After all, both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 took at least a year to come to the PC platform.

GTA 6 Possible Settings, Location and Maps

GTA 6 location

The stories of Grand Theft Auto games tend to weave around the locations shown in the game. The city almost becomes a living, breathing character that determines how the story goes. Vice City could be next, considering this and Rockstar‘s return to Los Angeles with Grand Theft Auto 5. After all, revisiting and reliving our in-game lives at Vice City seems like a mouthwatering prospect.

There’s also a fair chance that three or more cities could be used as the locations. Even if only one location is used initially, GTA 6 could have updates and DLCs that add the city, making it evolve as the story goes on. The most absurd yet extraordinary situation would be if Rockstar combined all the locations into one major game. While it does sound too good to be true, Rockstar North‘s Leslie Benzies has stated that Rockstar wants to try this out.

Whatever the case may be, you can rest assured that the location will play an important part in GTA 6.

GTA 6 Characters

Again, there’s no official word regarding the characters that could be shown in GTA 6. Considering how well the multiple protagonists angle worked in GTA V, Rockstar could try it again. Rumours suggest that GTA 6 will feature multiple playable characters once again. There are other rumours from a Reddit post that cites a writer from PCGamer as a source. Although PCGamer has denied this, the rumour seems quite interesting.

According to the post, GTA 6 is codenamed Project Americas. The location will be Vice City and another city based on Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro. Apparently, Netflix‘s hit show Narcos is a huge inspiration for the game. There will be only one protagonist who is involved in the drug trade between cartels. Moreover, the drug empire gameplay from GTA Vice City will return better and be revamped. You could also use your vehicle for transport as well as storage.

GTA 6 Trailer?

If further leaks are any indication, we could be getting a teaser or trailer for GTA 6 quite soon. According to a post on the reputed gaming site GameRant, a YouTuber by the name of KRYPTO9095 has posted a couple of updates. In one post, he holds up the Rockstar Games logo. This isn’t much on its own, but the colour scheme used in the Rockstar Games logo is different from those used by the publishers in earlier games.

Furthermore, Twitter users were quick to note that since this is a YouTuber who posts plenty of GTA content, Rockstar Games follows his Twitter handle. If you’re not convinced yet, there’s more. The user has also updated his Twitter banner to a possible GTA 6 banner. While it looks fanmade, El NitrO 56, a verified Twitter user and co-worker of KRYPTO9095 replied to the mockup and stated that these leaks are close to the truth.

https://twitter.com/NEWSLEAKSGTAS/status/1522610522335625216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1522644631585972225%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es2_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamingbible.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fgta-6-trailer-coming-very-soon-apparently-20220511

We’re not sure if we can believe these leaks yet as neither of these users has been a source of reliable GTA 6 information. This looks like it could move further into the speculation territory. Take this information with a pinch of salt, for the time being.

Update: The tweet has since been removed by Rockstar. While this is pretty normal for a development studio this huge, it could also point towards some correct information that Rockstar didn’t want leaked to the fans!

Major Gameplay Leaks

Recently, a user called @teapotuberhacker posted a leaked video of what is supposedly GTA 6 in development. The post contains over 90 videos on what seems like a very early build of the upcoming game. You can check out the post here.

The video was also posted on YouTube, where it garnered over 3 million views in less than 24 hours. You can check out the YouTube video below:

Although this might seem like the work of talented modders, the enhanced graphics and subtle changes in movement mechanism dictate otherwise. It looks like GTA 6 will feature two primary characters inspired by the antics of Bonnie and Clyde. Multiple environments have been shown in the video, as well as developmental videos of the player crouching and using the cover system.

Moreover, older reports stating that the game could be set in a modern version of Vice City (inspired by Miami, Florida) could turn out to be true after all. While Rockstar hasn’t responded officially to the leaks yet, the first videos and posts of the leaker have since been taken down. You can also see from the videos that Rockstar has taken inspiration from the Red Dead Redemption II inventory mechanics, and the player can only carry two weapons at a time. In previous GTA games, the player could carry all of their weapons, thanks to an infinite inventory.

We’re still a long way away from the final game’s release, with a potential release date being 2024. However, these leaks prove that GTA 6 is under development and will massively change the GTA landscape. The gameplay system and graphics will be enhanced, and the series will feature a female protagonist for the first time!

Update: The video has since been removed by Rockstar Games.

Rockstar Games GTA 6 Possible Setting Leak

GTA 6 is entirely up in speculation at the moment. Whatever little insight we have on the game is down to leaks and rumours. There’s a good chance that we’ll have more information on the game come to light in the second half of 2023. Moreover, the GTA 6 release date is tipped to be around 2024, according to leakers and industry insiders. However, there’s been some added speculation regarding the game’s setting, and this speculation is relatively recent.

A couple of days before Christmas, Rockstar games tweeted a teasing image on its official Twitter account. Although the tweet seems quite ordinary at first glance, wishing “Happy Holidays” to its followers, there’s a little detail that has people speculating. You can check out the tweet below:

In the Tweet, you’ll notice the image of a helicopter. At first glance, this might not seem like much to go on. However, you can also check out the tweet from Skynex below:

The design of the helicopter in question looks an awful lot like the real-world helicopter from Miami, Florida. For fans of the GTA series, Miami is also the city that inspired the fictional Vice City in the GTA universe. So, the GTA 6 setting could be Vice City. Of course, you’ll have to take this information with a bit of salt, as helicopters come in various shapes and sizes. Moreover, the image of the helicopter and its shape is rather standardised.

Nonetheless, Rockstar Games is also known for teasing its future games in such a cryptic fashion. While this is just pure speculation and conjecture for now, one of these leaks or rumours could eventually turn out to be true. For this, we’ll have to keep an open mind and wait patiently for Rockstar Games to tease us with something substantial for GTA 6!

Conclusion

We know that these are still early days to discuss GTA 6. However, the series has gone into active development, and we’re bound to get more information on them soon. Considering the reputable sources that have shared information, you’re likely to see the game in 2024. Here’s us hoping that the game’s reveal is done much, much sooner than that!
