When Hearthstone, a digital card collection and battler game was released for multiple platforms, there was a noticeable rise in interest in the genre. Of course, Hearthstone focused mainly on characters from the Warcraft series. Due to this, it wasn’t completely accessible to most of the audience. However, the makers of Hearthstone now have a golden opportunity on their hands. Recently, Marvel announced Marvel Snap, a digital card battler game that will be coming to both mobile and PC platforms. This article will give you all the relevant information on this upcoming game. Stay tuned, especially if you’re a Marvel fan!
What is Marvel Snap?
Marvel Snap is a card collecting game in which you have to collect different cards and build a deck. You can customise your decks before facing opponents, and the cards will feature all the characters from the Marvel multiverse. Each character will have their special powers that you can utilise in certain situations. You’ll be familiar with the concept if you’ve played a card collecting game like Hearthstone. Multiple franchises are now heading towards this genre, thanks to the marked increase in interest from the fans.
Moreover, games such as these are more accessible to people who aren’t into traditional genres of video games. Even if you’re a beginner or a newcomer to games of this nature, the game is bound to be accessible on significant fronts.
When was the game announced?
On May 19, 2022, Marvel took to Twitter and announced a “fast-paced” and “action-packed” collectible card game that would be based on the Marvel multiverse. You can take a look at the tweet below:
As you can see from the image, different versions of Captain America, Spider-Man, and Black Panther will be available in-game. This implies that each base card will also have multiple variants with special stat boosts and signatures.
Since this is a card collecting game, you won’t be having any actual combat in-game. However, the game will feature some interesting gameplay mechanics. Before the start of the match, you and your opponent will create a deck of 12 cards of your choosing. As Marvel stated, the game is relatively fast-paced, as each game shouldn’t take more than three minutes long. Your opponent will be playing with you simultaneously, and you will not have to wait for turns.
When you lay down a card, you’ll have access to three different locations chosen randomly by the game. To win the match, you will have to gain complete control over two locations out of three. Remember – every location has conditions that could either add buffs or nerfs to particular cards in your deck. So, choose your deck wisely. Lastly, the game has over 50 locations from the Marvel multiverse!

The beta tests tend to take anywhere between one to two months to complete. During and after the beta test, the developers take feedback and data from the players. This feedback is then used to change, refine, and polish the game before a global release. Considering this entire process, we could be seeing a release date in the latter half of 2022 or early 2023. However, this is all conjecture until Marvel makes any statement regarding the release date.
Which platforms will the game support?
Marvel hasn’t released the official system requirements for the game. This will probably be announced after the beta testing is completed. Nonetheless, since Marvel has mentioned “Mobile” and “PC” in their tweet. Also, the Android beta testing is underway. You could safely assume that the game should be available for PC and the major smartphone platforms, Android and iOS.
