Google Pixel 8 Series Launched In India: Price, Specs

Google has launched its Pixel 8 series of smartphones in India. These smartphones offer a substantial upgrade over their predecessor with new AI features and better cameras. Both phones will be available on Flipkart starting October 8.

Google Pixel 8 Series Specifications

The Google Pixel 8 sports a 6.2-inch Full-HD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the phone supports HDR 10+ with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

On the other hand, the Google Pixel 8 Pro sports a 6.7-inch Quad-HD+ LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.

The Tensor G3 chipset powers both phones paired with the Titan M2 co-processor. They run on Android 14 out of the box, with Google promising seven years of OS updates. This is the highest software support any brand offers, surpassing Samsung and even Apple. It also includes seven years of Pixel Feature drops and security updates.

For optics, both phones have a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor with OIS support. There is a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor on the Pixel 8 and a 64-megapixel on the 8 Pro.

There are new AI photography that utilize the power of the Tensor G3 chipset. These are the Audio Magic Eraser, Magic Editor, Video Boost, AI Noise Reduction, Zoom Enhance and Best Take. These new photography features will be exclusive to the Pixel 8 series.

Furthermore, the Pro also gets a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 30x Super Res zoom. On the front, there is an 11-megapixel camera on both devices. The Mountainview giant has also added a temperature sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro. It can measure the temperature of various objects such as bottles, beverages, food pans, etc.

The Pixel 8 packs a 4,575mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging and 18W wireless charging. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 Pro has a 5,050mAh battery with 30W wired and 23W wireless charging.

The devices also have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, apart from an in-display fingerprint sensor and secure face unlock that even works in banking apps.

Google Pixel 8 Series Pricing In India

The Google Pixel 8 series has launched in India on Flipkart and is currently available for pre-order. The Pixel 8 starts at Rs.75,999, while the Pixel 8 Pro will go on sale at Rs.1,06,999 for the 128GB variant.

Similarly, the 256GB variant of the Pixel 8 will retail for Rs.82,999. There is no information on the availability or pricing of the 256GB model of the Pixel 8 Pro. The Pixel 8 will be available in Hazel, Rose and Obsidian colours, while the Pixel 8 Pro will be available for purchase in Bay and Obsidian colours.

Furthermore, Flipkart offers a bank discount worth Rs.8,000 on the phones and an additional discount on exchange worth Rs.3,000.This results in an effective price of Rs.64,999 and Rs.93,999 for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

The company offers accessories like the Google Pixel Watch 2 and the Google Pixel Buds Pro for those buying the Pixel 8 series. The Pixel 8 Watch will be on offer at Rs.19,999, and the Pixel Buds Pro will be available at Rs.8,999.
