Netflix announced last month that the streaming company has been having difficulties due to decreasing revenue growth. In fact, the company recently saw its first subscription decline in over a decade. As a result, it has announced many attempts to turn things around, with streaming with ad support being one of the most significant. Initially, it was assumed that the company will take its time rolling out the functionality, but a fresh rumour claims that the company is speeding up the process, and we may soon see this OTT platform streaming with advertisements support.
Netflix Will Soon Come up with Ads
Reed Hastings, the co-CEO of the company recently spoke with The New York Times and suggested that this streaming service with commercial support might be on the way. He said he’d spend the “next year or two” trying to work out the ad-supported streaming service.
This seems to have changed, though. According to the New York Times, the ad tier will be introduced in the last three months of 2022. (Q4, 2022). According to reports, the company has written a memo to its staff stating that management wants to launch the ad tier before the end of the year.
This implies that things are moving quickly at Netflix’s headquarters, and we may soon see a brand-new ad-supported streaming plan from the company. Furthermore, Disney Plus has expressed interest in an ad-supported tier. It will be interesting to observe how these suggested ad-supported streaming options develop.
