Realme is now all set to enter a market segment they have not tapped into yet. As confirmed from the company, the brand will enter the sub-$800 smartphone segment. Meaning, they will launch its first ultra-premium smartphone after marking its presence in affordable and mid-range markets. It also means this flagship phone will have almost every feature that is missing in a phone like Realme GT. However, it may cost Rs. 60,000 in Indian pricing.

The company’s founder and CEO Sky Li took to Twitter to confirm the company’s entry into the ultra-premium smartphone category. However, considering that the year is about to end, we can expect some details early next year. Li also did not confirm the naming scheme of the ultra-premium category.

As we already know, all other BBK Electronics companies—OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo—are already present in the premium segment. OnePlus is predominantly known for its premium segment phones. However, Faisal Kawoosa, founder analyst at TechArc claims that Realme’s acceptability in the premium segment will be higher than Xiaomi. This can be due to the former’s continuous success in every segment it enters. It will not be much of a surprise if it makes a huge presence in ultra premium segment.

Moreover, Realme has increased its focus on offline expansion. It is also aiming to increase its offline touchpoints from 7,000 to 35,000 by 2020 calendar year-end. “Offline is about the experience, but it is not limited to premium phones,” Sheth said, adding that the company will expand the presence without providing ‘exorbitant’ trade margins to retailers. It is also planning to launch an exclusive offline smartphone series in the first quarter of 2020, Sheth revealed.
