Realme Narzo N55 Design and Build

Realme Narzo N55 looks really good and attractive at the first look. It comes with a plastic back with a dual-tone glossy finish, which Realme calls – “Dynamic Splicing Design”. You get a light shade on the lower half of the phone while a slightly darker shade on the upper side of the back.

There are two big camera lenses which will grab the eyes of anyone near you. The phone comes with flat frames which are also made of plastic. It helps the phone to offer a better grip and sleek look. Moreover, the phone is pretty lightweight and easy to carry around, weighing just about 189 grams.

Coming over to ports and buttons, the phone has a power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner and volume rockers on the right side.

The left side has the SIM card slot, while the top is completely clean. Lastly, the bottom side has the type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, and loudspeaker.

Realme Narzo N55 Camera

Realme Narzo N55 takes some really impressive shots using the 64MP main camera lens. It features a dual camera setup which includes a 2MP lens as the secondary camera. The front side has an 8MP selfie camera inside the punch-hole cutout.

Realme Narzo N55 Camera

The main camera takes some really good shots in bright lighting conditions. The details were good and the images were vibrant and colourful. The dynamic range was wide and overall looked pleasing to the eye.

Even low light shots were nice. The dedicated night mode enhances the overall image. The result comes out more crisp and bright than the normal mode.

Coming over to the front, the 8MP selfie camera takes decent selfies in proper lighting. The selfies I took looked nice and sharp unless you zoom in. The skin tones also looked natural.

Realme Narzo N55 Battery and Charging

The Realme Narzo N55 packs a big 5000mAh battery which lasts pretty long. A casual user can easily use the phone for almost 2 days without needing to charge it. I was playing Asphalt 9 at high settings for half an hour and the battery only dropped by 3 per cent.

Well, if you are a heavy gamer, you will need to plug in the charger at the end of the day. But not to worry about it, as the phone comes with a 33W fast charger in the box.

The 33W SuperVOOC charger takes a little more than an hour to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent. A half an hour charge takes the battery level to about 50 per cent.

Realme Narzo N55 Display

Realme Narzo N55 features an FHD+ 6.72 inches IPS LCD display which offers a decent viewing experience. It has a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 680 nits. The display gets bright enough for indoor use but struggles under direct sunlight.

Nonetheless, the 90Hz panel makes everything look smooth. Be it scrolling through my Insta feed or playing games. While it’s an IPS display, the content on the screen looks vibrant and punchy.

The viewing angles were good and I enjoyed watching videos on YouTube. The punch hole cutout gives it a good look and the thin bezels (except the chin) enhance the overall content consumption experience.

Realme Narzo N55 Performance

The Realme Narzo N55 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset which is paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of EMMC 5.1 internal storage. Moreover, you can expand the RAM by another 6GB on the top variant.

Realme Narzo N55 Performance

It handles the everyday tasks easily. Apps like Instagram and Snapchat run smoothly with no shutters. You can even play graphic intensive games on it. I tried Asphalt 9 and CoD Mobile.

Both the games ran well on High graphic settings. However, I did notice some shutters and frame drops while playing. So, I lowered the graphic settings and the gameplay was smoother and much better.

Realme Narzo N55 Gaming Performance

Even after playing for an hour, I did not experience any kind of heating, which is good. There is a gaming mode which kicks in automatically when you launch a game. Swipe on the left will bring up some shortcuts and modes where you can select different performance modes.

Realme Narzo N55 Software and UI

The Realme Narzo N55 runs on Realme UI 4.0 skin which is based on the Android 13 version. Good to see that Realme has given the latest Android version out of the box. The UI is simple and packed with features.

Realme Narzo N55 Software

For starters, you get a mini capsule feature which is inspired from the dynamic island seen in iPhone 14 Pro models. Currently, the mini capsule only allows a certain amount of functionality like showing battery and charging status, data usage and steps stats.

Then there are features like dual-mode audio, battery saving mode, spilt screen, smart sidebar and more. On the other hand, the phone is loaded with bloatware and third-party apps like Moj, Josh, Facebook, Snapchat, Spotify, Hot Apps, Hot Games and many more.

Verdict

Realme Narzo N55 is a solid budget smartphone with a primary focus on looks and specs. The phone handles everyday tasks with ease and the big battery makes sure the phone lasts about two days on a single charge. Moreover, the 33W fast charging is a really good addition at this price.

The display is good for a casual user, however, I wished Realme could have given an AMOLED display. Main camera takes impressive shots in good lighting conditions. Not to forget, there are some drawbacks like the bloatware, lack of ultra-wide lens and 5G.

Overall, the Realme Narzo N55 is a good option for someone who wants an all-rounder on a budget but doesn’t care about 5G.
