The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus pricing in India starts at Rs. 34999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. There is one more Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus model with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which is now priced at Rs. 48669. The phone has dimensions of 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm and is at bit hefty at 173 grams. It is a bit taller than S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 7 too. There is no camera bump – it slides into the hand comfortably. The edges are curved making it easy to hold. However, it does not have any premium element added to it. The fingerprint scanner is now off center and next to the camera and so, you might have problems activating the phone, mistaking the camera for the sensor.

The curved screen is 6.2 inches wide diagonally, and the infinity display is gorgeous. Content on the phone spills over the glass on the curved sides, and the added vertical space makes the screen seem massive. Going over the past few years, the realisation that a curved screen is nothing new dawns upon every person. Subjectivity aside, the display panel is one of the brightest and is vibrant, having excellent contrast and legibility in sunlight.

The massive screen does come with its problems though. Due to the unusual aspect ratio of the screen, most videos either get cropped or stretched in landscape mode, with two black bars on either side being present at all times.

The phone uses Samsung Exynos 8895 which is a amazing chipset. It can easily breeze you through the daily apps and even handle intensive tasks without stutters. This time around Samsung has focused a lot on Bixby, its new virtual assistant. You can summon Bixby with a dedicated hardware button on the left. The phone has a single speaker at the bottom, whose loudness rating is average at best. It makes you want a stereo speaker as a possible inclusion in the next model.

Moving on to the camera, we have the 12 MP main shooter with f1.7 aperture, 26mm, phase detect AF and optical image stabilisation. The camera setup is very similar to the S7; however, Samsung has been able to improve the performance a bit by coming up with a new feature called multishot stacking, previously seen in Google Pixel. The difference in the quality of the image is striking and gives the S8 Plus a definite upper hand

It has a 3500 mAh Lithium-Ion battery which gives around 88 hours of endurance. It can stay alive for a whole day and can give you adequate time to work on it, without dying.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is one of the most beautiful phones we have seen. The camera takes excellent, well-balanced photos, and brings cool new features such as multi-stacking. The selfie camera too is the best we have seen from Samsung. Although there are things that Samsung could’ve done better – the awkward position of the fingerprint scanner being foremost of them – these are merely small faults in an otherwise outstanding flagship phone. But if you can meet the price, this phone is definitely worth recommending.
