It’s been almost a decade that The Last Of Us had initially released on the PlayStation 3. It had been remastered for the PlayStation 4, while PC gamers still awaited any news on the game being ported to PC. Now, the game is being remastered for the PlayStation 5, and it’s finally coming to PC gamers. Since Sony has been expanding parts of its library to include gaming on PC, it’s only natural that The Last Of Us comes to the platform. Every PC gamer, including ourselves, has been waiting for this moment and it’s finally happening. This article will shed light on everything that you need to know about The Last Of Us PC port.

So, without further ado, let’s get started!

What is The Last Of Us?

There’s almost no doubt that most gamers, old or new, have heard of this game. It’s been one of the best PlayStation gaming titles, and gaming titles overall. In fact, it has been a huge part of the discussion regarding video games as a narrative medium. In case you still want a recap, The Last Of Us is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure and survival game. The game is inspired by The Road, a novel by Cormac McCarthy. It follows two protagonists, Ellie and Joel. Ellie’s blood might hold the genome required to cure a deadly zombie-creating virus. Joel will have to guide Ellie and teach her to survive, so that she can reach the people who can save the rest of the world from the same fate.

The game isn’t a remastered version with enhanced visuals and content, which is usually the case with remastered games. Instead, it’s a complete overhaul and remake of the game. The developers have stated that the PC version is in development, and will feature “improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat”. Apart from this, the game will feature “modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options”. Considering the words stated here, it makes sense for PC players to be hyped about this game. After all, none of the modern PlayStation to PC game ports received a complete remake treatment. At best, they were remastered. So, this could be a huge step forward for Sony‘s induction into the PC gaming world.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Sony has released an announcement trailer for The Last Of Us Part I, releasing on PlayStation 5 and PC. You can check out the trailer below:

As you can see from the trailer, the visuals and animations will definitely be enhanced. However, the acting job and the cast will remain the same. This is good news, as this impeccable acting and casting was part of what made the game such a huge sensation in 2013.

Release date

The PC version of the game is still under development. Moreover, Sony is currently focussing all its efforts on bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PC. So, there’s a good chance that you might not get The Last Of Us PC port/remake in 2022. However, for PlayStation 5 owners, there’s some good news. The game is up for pre-order at the PS Direct online client, according to this tweet from Wario64:

According to the listing, The Last Of Us for PlayStation 5 will release on September 5, 2022. PC gamers will have to be a tad more patient with this one.

Since The Last of Us Part 1 was released on September 2, 2022, for PlayStation 5, gamers have been asking for the PC port as well. Thankfully, Sony has finally given us a date for The Last Of Us PC Port, with the release date set for March 3, 2023. We know that it’s still quite a few months away. However, Sony has shown outstanding commitment to delivering quality and optimisation to the PC ports so far. Insomniac’s Marvel Spider-Man and God of War have been considerable successes in the PC market.

You can be sure that when PC players get their hands on The Last Of Us Part 1, it’ll be replete with all the bells and whistles. From better textures to higher resolutions, this upcoming PlayStation port should deliver and meet players’ high expectations. The other good news is that Sony has confirmed that it will bring other console exclusives to PC in the future. While this may take some time, it makes sense in the long run. After all, the pandemic has made acquiring PlayStation consoles more difficult. Gamers have now spread their wings over different consoles, including PC. More supported platforms mean more money, especially for Sony’s PlayStation games which are rated highly among gamers!

We can’t wait to see the changes and quality-of-life improvements that Sony brings to an already fantastic game. You can preorder the game on Steam or The Epic Games Store. You’ll also get various preorder bonuses, such as bonus supplements which are essential for the first few hours of the game, and bonus weapon parts to craft the most dangerous of weapons against all types of enemies. So, what are you waiting for? Head to Steam or The Epic Games Store and order your copy of The Last Of Us PC today!

While The Last Of Us Part I has always been a single-player game at its core, there’s probably only going to be an additional multiplayer mode here. However, Naughty Dog, the game’s developers, are working on a multiplayer game. This game will be featured in the world created for The Last Of Us. It’s said to be an “extremely ambitious undertaking”. There are also rumours stating that Naughty Dog is looking to expand the entire game development team so that they can work on this multiplayer game in full swing.

Instead of being a mode, this game will be completely multiplayer. We’re thinking that they might be working on something along the lines of a battle royale mode, with various twists. Or they could be taking some inspiration from Tom Clancy’s The Division, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands. However, we’ll just have to wait to find out. Expect the news on this project to be revealed much later.

With Sony expanding on their gaming platforms and including PC in the mix, it’s a piece of good news for gamers worldwide. This will be the stepping stone for gaming in the future, involving crossplay between different platforms. However, at the moment, we’re just ecstatic that PC gamers finally get to put their hands on bonafide versions of some fantastic PlayStation games.
