Garena Free Fire added the unique spin of using specific characters in the battle royale genre. Previously, in games like BGMI, players could customise and personalise a new character. However, the only aspect separating the characters from each other was their cosmetic items. With Free Fire, you can unlock and use specific characters that have special powers. These powers drastically change the game’s dynamics. A new character, Homer, is available for grabs in the latest Free Fire top-up event. Let’s check out the details regarding Homer in Free Fire and how you can unlock him!

A little about Homer

Homer

Homer is one of the first visually challenged characters in the entire history of battle royale games. This provides an excellent impetus for more video games to represent marginalised communities. Due to his visual impairment, Homer’s abilities and gameplay style are slightly different from the competition’s. Regardless, he’s still a fantastic character to use in Free Fire.

Abilities

Homer Senses Shockwave homer in free fire

Homer’s got quite a few exciting abilities in his repertoire. The Senses Shockwave is the blind assassin’s active skill. The skill releases a drone into the air that will detect the closest enemy within 100 metres of where Homer is facing. The drone will then head towards the enemy and self-destruct, creating a 5-meter pulse explosion. This explosion reduces both the movement speed and firing speed by 60 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively. An additional damage output reduces the enemy’s HP by 25 points.

You can use the ability after a cooldown time of 90 seconds. Moreover, you can upgrade the skill up to Level 6, thereby significantly increasing the damage and range when compared to Level 1. At each level, the 5-meter diameter explosion, 25HP damage, and the 100-meter distance remain the same. Only the cooldown and effects change.

Level Details

  • Level 1 – Reduces the movement speed and firing speed by 10 per cent each. The cooldown for the skill is 140 seconds.
  • Level 2 – Your opponent’s movement speeds reduce by 20 per cent, and their firing speed decreases by 15 per cent. You can use the skill again after letting it cool for 130 seconds.
  • Level 3 – The movement speeds and firing speed are lowered by 30 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively. Cooldown reduces to 120 seconds.
  • Level 4 – Enemies’ movement speed reduces by 40 per cent, and firing speed is reduced by 25 per cent. You can use the skill again after 110 seconds.
  • Level 5 – Movement speed is lowered by 50 per cent, and the firing speed is reduced by 30 per cent. Skill needs 100 seconds to cool down.
  • Level 6 – This is the final level of the skill. Movement speeds reduce by a crisp 60 per cent while firing speed reduces by 35 per cent. Skill can be used again after you let it recharge for 90 seconds.
