Google has announced its latest Android September update, bringing five new features designed to make everyday smartphone use easier and more personal. The September Android Drop adds a smarter way to remember where you keep important items, a new tool to help reduce motion sickness and better accessibility features powered by Gemini.
The update also improves collaboration in Google Messages and gives users more ways to customise their chats. While some features are rolling out now, others will arrive soon on supported Android devices.
Android September Update Adds Smarter Everyday Tools
One of the most useful additions lets Gemini remember where you placed important items through Find Hub. You can simply tell Gemini where you kept something such as a passport or spare key. You can also add a photo to make the item easier to identify later.
The update also introduces Motion Assist for phones running Android 17. The feature places a subtle bubble overlay on the screen that moves with the vehicle. Google says this can help reduce the mismatch between what your eyes see and the movement you feel while travelling.

Gemini And Google Messages Get Major Upgrades
Guided vision is another major addition in the Android September Update aimed at helping blind and low vision users. By sharing the camera with Gemini Live, users can get spoken descriptions of objects, read small text and receive guidance on how to position the camera correctly.
Google Messages is also becoming more useful for group conversations. Users can now bring Google Keep into chats to create shared grocery lists, travel plans and other notes without leaving the messaging app. The feature rollout has started.
Meanwhile, the new Chat theme feature lets users personalize individual conversations using wallpapers, photos and different colour combinations. The selected background can also automatically match the message bubbles.
Google is rolling out these features across supported devices and regions. Find Hub item memory requires Android 16 or later, while Motion Assist is available on Android 17 phones. Guided vision is coming to phones running Android 9 or later in supported Gemini regions.
