Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new range of Macs powered by its next-gen M5 chip. According to sources, the first model could be the M5 MacBook Pro, which may arrive by the end of 2025. More devices, including the M5 MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio, are expected in 2026.
This launch follows Apple’s usual upgrade cycle and shows the company’s continued focus on its custom silicon chips.
M5 MacBook Pro May Launch In Late 2025

Reports say Apple is testing a MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, codenamed J704. The current M4 MacBook Pro had the code J604, so J704 likely points to its direct successor. This new model could launch with macOS 26.0.2.
Retail stock for the current MacBook Pro is also running low, which often hints at a new release. A leak from the US FCC even revealed an unknown MacBook model number, adding to the buzz.
Apple is also working on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, likely for 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, set for early 2026.
M5 MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio in 2026
Apple may also launch 13-inch and 15-inch M5 MacBook Air models in early 2026. These are internally known as J813 and J815. They are expected to ship with macOS 26.2.
By mid-2026, Apple is likely to release:
- New Mac Mini models (J873s and J873g)
- Updated Mac Studio devices (J775c and J775d)
Both are in development with macOS 26.4. A new iMac (J833ct) is also mentioned in the code but not confirmed yet.
