Google Pixel 5a Launch Date Tipped, Pixel 6 May Have Central Selfie Camera

We can expect Google to launch new Pixel phones for 2021 – possibly the Google Pixel 5a and Pixel 6. Considering the number of leaks surfacing online, we can expect a launch soon. According to a known tipster, Pixel 5a will reportedly launch on June 11. Moreover, rumors are that it will be similar to Google Pixel 4a in terms of design and its placement in the Pixel lineup. On the other hand, both the phones will have smaller hole-punch cutouts for the selfie camera. However, the latter – Pixel 6 will shift the selfie camera to the center instead of the top left corner.

Last week, tipster Jon Prosser revealed that Google will be holding an event on June 11th to announce a new Pixel device. In his latest tweet, he confirms that the Google Pixel 5a will be the phone launching on June 11th. Moreover, he also shared last week that the new Pixel Buds will be unveiled in mid-April. However, the tweet does not share any further information.

Google Pixel 5a Leaks, Launch Date

According to the leaks, it will launch on June 11th. This information comes from known tipster Jon Prosser who is very accurate with his leaks. In addition, the leaks also suggest that the device while taking forward the same design idea as the Pixel 4a, will move towards a smaller punch-hole display. It is especially for lesser interruptions in the viewing experience. However, Google Pixel 5a will retain the left-sided punch-hole seen on the current Pixels.

Google Pixel6 Leaks

A report by 9to5Google states the latest update for the Pixel series camera app has some details about the upcoming Pixel 6. It mentions a hole-punch camera, suggesting that it will be 10-pixel radius smaller than other Pixel phones. According to this report, the cutout for the selfie camera on the Google Pixel 5a will be a 55-pixel radius instead of 65 pixels on the Pixel 4a. The same report also reveals some camera details on the Pixel 6.

The camera app also reveals details about the Pixel 6’s selfie camera. The codename Oriole, found in the app, is believed to be for the Pixel 6. It shows the hole-punch on the phone will be present in the center instead of the top left corner as present on the Pixel 5. The front camera on the rumored Pixel 6 is also said to support 4K video recording.
