The leaks and reports from June indicated that Apple’s foldable iPhone had reached the P1 prototype stage. The company is reportedly following its usual development cycle, which involves progressing through the P1 to P3 prototype phases before advancing to the Engineering Verification Test (EVT) stage.

After successful testing, the device would then move into mass production, potentially setting the stage for a launch in the second half of 2026. Each prototype phase is said to span roughly two months, during which Apple’s supply chain partners may conduct trial runs to refine production processes. After the trial runs, iPhone assemblers Foxconn and Pegatron may evaluate production efficiency and confirm manufacturability before ramping up to full-scale production.

The leaks hint that Apple’s foldable iPhone may launch with an initial shipment estimate of around 7 million units, though this number may shift depending on consumer demand.
Rumors suggest the device may cost approximately $2,300 (around Rs. 1,99,000) in the U.S. It’s expected to feature a durable liquid metal hinge, a 7.8-inch inner display, and a 5.5-inch cover screen. When folded, the device may measure 9.2mm thick, slimming down to 4.6mm when unfolded.
