Motorola is preparing to launch its next flagship smartphone, the Motorola Signature 27, and the company has already confirmed one major upgrade. The phone will feature a 200MP primary camera on the back.
Motorola is also expected to use Qualcomm's next-generation flagship Snapdragon chip. The phone is set to be announced on September 22, while India is among the markets being promoted ahead of the launch.
Motorola Signature 27 Camera Could Be Its Biggest Upgrade
The Motorola Signature 27 camera setup is shaping up to be a major change from the first-generation Signature. The earlier model had a 50MP main camera, while the new phone is confirmed to move to a 200MP primary sensor.
Motorola has not revealed every camera specification yet. However, the report says the phone could use a Sony LYTIA 901 sensor. This is the same sensor family found on some other premium smartphones.
The higher megapixel count does not automatically mean better photos. Image quality also depends on the sensor size, processing and software. Still, the move to a 200MP sensor suggests Motorola is putting more focus on camera performance with the Signature 27.
The phone is also expected to compete with premium models such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Motorola has also confirmed two colour options for the phone:
- Pantone Coal Smoke
- Pantone Capulet Olive
The company appears to be moving back towards a vegan leather-style finish or a similar material. This would be a change from the glass back used on the first Signature model.

New Snapdragon Processor Expected
The other major upgrade could be inside the phone. The Motorola Signature 27 is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor.
This chip has not been officially confirmed for the phone yet. The report notes that Qualcomm could unveil the processor around the same time as Motorola's launch, which has added to speculation about its use in the new flagship.
The previous Motorola Signature used a standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. Moving to a newer Elite-series chip would therefore give the Signature 27 a significant change in its expected performance hardware.
Motorola has officially scheduled the Signature 27 announcement for September 22, 2026. The company is also promoting the phone through its India and Brazil social media channels. This suggests that India could be among the markets where Motorola plans to introduce the new flagship.
