Vivo has officially confirmed the OriginOS 7 launch date, giving users their first clear look at the company’s next major software update. The new Android 17-based operating system will be unveiled on September 16 at the Vivo Developer Conference in China.

Ahead of the event, Vivo has released several teasers showing the visual changes coming with OriginOS 7. The new software focuses heavily on translucent elements, smoother animations and improved lighting effects. Vivo will also introduce BlueOS 4 at the same event for wearables, smart home products and other IoT devices.

OriginOS 7 Launch Date And Major Design Changes

OriginOS 7 will bring liquid glass-like design

The OriginOS 7 launch will take place on September 16. Vivo is expected to reveal the complete rollout plan and announce more details about supported smartphones during the event.

The company has already confirmed several visual upgrades through its teasers. OriginOS 7 introduces a new design approach called “light and shadow aesthetics”, which uses translucent glass like elements that interact with the wallpaper.

Some of the key upgrades include:

    • Android 17 based OriginOS 7
    • Translucent and glass inspired interface
    • New liquid animation system
    • Improved lighting and shadow effects
    • Pixel level “see through colour” technology
    • Liquid Themes for the lock screen
    • New Flash Card Theme
    • System wide sticker library
    • Custom stickers created from photos

The new see through colour technology can adjust selected areas of the interface in real time. This helps improve text visibility when the wallpaper or background makes content difficult to read.

OriginOS 7 Could Make Vivo Phones Feel More Dynamic

Vivo is also improving the performance behind its redesigned interface. The company has rebuilt its Blue River rendering engine around Virtual GPU 4.0. According to Vivo, this allows OriginOS 7 to render content up to 14 percent faster than OriginOS 6.

The new software also adds interactive visual effects. Pressing a button can trigger a ripple animation, while dragging elements across the screen changes the lighting and shadow effects.

The lock screen gets a major upgrade through Liquid Themes, which can animate wallpapers when users tilt or shake their phones. The new Flash Card Theme can also turn photos, characters and locations into personalised lock screen cards.

Another interesting addition is the new sticker system. Users can place stickers on the desktop, wallpapers, albums and Always On Display. They can also create custom stickers directly from their photos.

With the OriginOS 7 launch now confirmed for September 16, Vivo is expected to reveal more details about its features, rollout schedule and eligible devices at the event.
