Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G Finally Launched Officially By Google

Not Pixel 5 but Pixel 4a arrives in India on October 14.

Google finally launches Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G during the Launch Night In virtual event. This comes as the tech giant’s 2020 flagship phone. Both the new smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC and include a Titan M security chip. However, both phones will be available in the US but not in India.

In reply to a Twitter user who asked when the Pixel 5 will come to India, Google replied the following:

No, but the Pixel 4a will release in India on October 17th and will be available for purchase on Flipkart. To learn more about it check out the official blog post here.

Furthermore, Flipkart has also created a microsite for Pixel 4a. The page lists all of the specifications of the phone. However, there is no mention of the pricing here.

On the other hand, Google on its blog post, states that the price of the Pixel 4a in India will be revealed closer to its launch.

Pricing Details

Globally, Pixel 5 price starts at $699 (roughly Rs. 51,400), whereas the 4a 5G variant starts at 499 (roughly Rs. 37,000). Both phones will become available in 5G markets – Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.

Google’s 4a 5G will launch first in Japan on October 15. However, it will be rolling out in other countries from November. Whereas, Pixel 5 will be available across all 9 countries from October 15. The latter will come in Just Black and Sorta Sage color options.

The company announced offers for its 5G smartphone customers, including 3 months of Google Stadia Pro and YouTube Premium, apart from 100GB of Google One cloud storage, as well as Play Pass and Play Points.

Google Pixel 5 Specifications

It features a 6-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) OLED display along with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. In addition, it also has a 432ppi pixel density. The display also features Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and a 90Hz refresh rate.

It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The phone runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box.

In terms of optics, it houses a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12.2-MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 lens and a 16-MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens.

For selfies and video chats, the Google Pixel 5 features an 8-MP snapper at the front with an f/2.0 lens. Both the rear and front cameras offer up to 4K video recording support at up to 60fps.

Moreover, it comes with 128GB of onboard storage that isn’t expandable via a microSD card. It packs a 4,080mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The phone also supports wireless charging and reverse charging.

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Further, it includes stereo speakers and three microphones.

It features a 6.2-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) OLED display with 413ppi pixel density. It comes with a Corning Glass 3 protection. Moreover, the phone runs on Android 11.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
