Twitter New Feature: The Twitter Circle

Similar to Instagram’s close friends feature, the Twitter circle will let the users share tweets with a small crowd or a selected number of people. Users can choose up to 150 people at a time with whom they want to share their tweets. The Twitter new feature has been rolled out for some people as of now, and it will be available for everyone else in the coming days.

So, if you have the Twitter new feature on your account, here’s what you can do:

  • You can choose up to 150 people, regardless of whether you are following them or not.
  • While twitting, you can select the option for “Twitter Circle” to make the tweets visible to only those selected number of people.
  • You can edit the Twitter circle list anytime you want.
  • The members won’t be notified if you remove them.

The Twitter new feature will be available for iOS, Android and web users. However, no confirmed words have come out yet as to when the Twitter circle will be rolled out to a wide public.

Elon Musk’s Demand- Edit Option

The Twitter new feature can also witness the addition of the Edit option. Elon Musk has been demanding the Edit option from Twitter for a long. Looks like, after Musk’s takeover of Twitter, we can soon expect the Edit option for tweets.

Currently, next to the tweet, you can see a three-dot option. Upon clicking on it, you get a lot of options. The Edit option will soon be added to the list. As of now, talks are being made the users will be able to edit any tweet within 30-minutes of posting it. Post that, the edit option won’t show. Furthermore, users will have the option to change the media attached to their tweets completely. But when this Twitter new feature roll-out, only time can tell!

Twitter new feature: Will it charge a fee?

twitter new feature

Musk tweeted on May 4, 2022, that Twitter might charge some fee. However, this fee is not for general users, but commercial or government users might have to pay a slight fee in the coming days. Musk’s plan is to charge a fee when any third-party website would want to quote or embed tweets from verified individuals or organizations.

So, government and commercial users might have to pay a price tag for their tweets soon.

Content Moderation

Musk is a practitioner of free speech, and he believes Twitter is the micro-blogging platform where people can express their thoughts. However, Twitter has certain policies, and it is upon Twitter if they want to ban a particular Twitter account. Musk has shown displeasure about these policies earlier also. And now that he has bought Twitter, we can expect content moderation on the micro-blogging platform. This Twitter new feature will give people more liberty to express their thoughts.

Solving the spambot problems

According to Musk, there are plenty of spam accounts and spambots on Twitter, which are really annoying. Recently, a Twitter user asked Musk if he could do something about these spambots. While Musk feels the same, it would be a sight to watch when the Twitter new feature for spambot removal or spam accounts blocking is made available.

And this was all about the major changes that Twitter users can soon experience. However, the exact time for rolling out the Twitter new feature is yet not confirmed. Until then, it will be exciting to wait for other changes Elon Musk will make to the micro-blogging platform.

The Twitter Blue Debacle – November, 2022

Before Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover in October, the Blue Tick was specially reserved for celebrities and known public figures. However, ever since Musk launched the premium Twitter Blue service, anyone who pays the monthly membership fee can get the tick on their account. Things have only gone downhill since.

For starters, several Twitter users started buying Twitter Blue subscriptions to impersonate popular celebrities. There were multiple accounts impersonating Musk himself. Due to this and debates surrounding the membership fees and authenticity of it all, Musk suspended the feature.

Twitter Poll Elon Musk (December 19, 2022)

Following a series of controversies, Elon Musk has apparently been looking for a new Twitter CEO. At least, that is what the 50-days-old Twitter Head claimed in court last month. Going by his very own words, “I expect to reduce my time at Twitter and find somebody else to run Twitter over time.” Then again, recently, he also claimed that it is impossible for there to be a successor. According to Musk, the real challenge is not in finding a CEO. Instead, it is finding a CEO that can keep Twitter alive and breathing.

On December 19, 2022, he took to Twitter to tweet a poll. As per the tweet, he wants to know whether people think he should step down as the head of Twitter or not. Moreover, he also states that he will abide by the Twitter poll results. Well, only time will tell.
