The Delhi Metro truly is a thing of marvel and has been a source of public transportation that the city had been lacking. With so many lines now operational, more and more people have started to use the Delhi Metro in earnest. The earlier systems of buying tickets at counters have been dispensed in several stations, with ticketing kiosks being put in place instead. Now, you are seeing a new trend wherein one can buy a Delhi metro QR ticket. Similarly, you could get a metro card to avoid buying a ticket if you are a regular traveller. That, too, has been technologically upgraded with card top-up machines that recharge your metro card with UPI. Now, the final frontier of metro travel has been introduced. You can now book a ticket straight from your smartphone with the DMRC app. No longer do you have to stand in a queue or at the ticketing counter? DMRC undertook a significant and technically demanding task to enhance its Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates. This upgrade involved implementing a user-friendly, cashless, and efficient ticketing system. It is reported that the entire process was accomplished without any disruption to passenger services.
