Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a game-changer in various applications, including chatbots on Android and other operating systems. Notable examples include Microsoft’s Copilot on Windows, Google’s Bard chatbot, and Meta’s AI assistant introduced across Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

Meta AI Chatbot Integration On WhatsApp
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, revealed its plans to experiment with an AI chatbot for its services in September. Leveraging the Llama 2 large language model and Microsoft Bing’s capabilities, the chatbot aimed to provide realistic and fluent conversations, answering user queries through web searches. Initially limited to a select group of testers, Meta has now expanded the availability of its AI chatbot on WhatsApp.
In the latest development, a new floating action button (FAB) has been introduced in WhatsApp, simplifying access to the generative AI. Positioned just above the new message FAB in the Chats tab, the multicolor circle in a pale gray button serves as a shortcut to initiate AI-powered chats.
This strategic placement enhances feature discoverability, making it more prominent for users who may not have encountered it before. The FAB replaces the previous location of the AI feature, which was away in the Contacts section.

Compatibility & Rollout Progress
The new AI chat shortcut is compatible with WhatsApp beta version 2.23.24.26, and some users may even spot the feature on the older version 2.23.24.23. As the beta version is already available on the Play Store, there are optimistic expectations for Meta’s AI chatbot to reach the stable channel soon.
