Attackers can think of any shameful action to hack you, even in this Covid situation. Recently, A fake covid SMS has been going around in India that has a fake link to an app for coronavirus vaccine registrations. This SMS claims free registration for the COVID-19 vaccine.

If you open this link, it will make you download a fake app. This app goes by the name of Vaccine Register. With this, hackers can initiate attacks using your device for illegal activities to reveal personal data. 

Also, SMS fraud can automatically send a copy of itself to everyone in your contact list on the device without your knowledge.

The fake covid SMS started circulating at the same time when the official vaccine portal faced glitches because a large number of people tried to register. As an outcome, many users fell victim to the fake link and installed malware on their phones.

Cyble, an Australia-based risk intelligence firm, has exposed how this SMS Fraud malware operated. According to Cyble, this SMS does many activities on the sufferer’s phone. Once you download and allow unapproved access to private accounts and services, it can illegally delete your data from the mobile device or services.

Well, it is easy! Stop downloading apps from SMS links.
