Google has announced the Gemini Spark launch at its Google I/O 2026 event, introducing a new cloud based AI agent that can complete tasks even when a user’s device is turned off. The company described Gemini Spark as a “24/7 personal AI agent” designed to handle multi step actions, manage workflows, and stay connected across apps and services.
The new AI system runs on Google Cloud virtual machines instead of directly on smartphones or laptops. This setup allows Gemini Spark to continue working in the background without depending on local device power or storage. Google said the service will first roll out to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States next week.
